Summary: Pros: (1) Amazing 6x zoom lens. All other cameras have 4x or less. (2) Lots of different settings so it's good for beginners that don't know how to use a camera and just want to point and shoot all the way up to more advanced users. (3) Excellent video camera abilities. Can take lots of footage with nice, loud sound. (4) Nice big viewing screen. (5) Viewing window in addition to viewing screen. Great for sunny days.
Summary: I really enjoy it. After a lot of research I have decided to buy it instead of others such as Minolta, Kodak and others. The only downside is the flash. I would love it if it took better pictures at night.
Summary: Overall, I really like my A700. I took the camera on a trip to Italy and was extremely pleased with the performance, shooting 95% on automatic. After spending considerable time researching available cameras, it replaced my Powershot S40, as I wanted to upgrade to the 6MP and the 6x zoom. I'm used to the Canon settings (having had the S40 and a Rebel), so that was a consideration.
Summary: I was using Power Shot A700 for a month and my opinion is based on 6 years experience with digital photography. First of all for that price this is good overall camera with 6x zoom which is good for portraits and gives more creative options than most of digital cameras with 3x zoom. The most important is clarity of picture and quite satysfying speed. Have you experienced long delays between shots because it took over a second to take and record it?
Summary: We are very happy with the product exept that when we took it to Mexico the lenses on the inside of the camera kept fogging up. We had another canon digital camera and this did not happen. I had read a review earlier about problems with the seels on this model and ours has done the same thing. We live in a very dry climate and have had no problems and only had problems on our vacation in Mexico. Other than that it has been a great camera.
