Canon A630 and 640 - excellent underwater and AA batteries too...
30 September 2013
Summary: This is one of the better point & shoots from Canon - with the fact that it runs on AA batteries being a bonus. In this case, I bought an old one - supposedly clean & pristine - with a Canon underwater housing to match. This combination is excellent for your average diving holiday, where the camera is usually left on its video selection and the results are excellent.
Summary: I bought this for my daughter who is interested in photography. We have used it for landscapes, portraits and video and it has worked beautifully while giving her the opportunity use the automatic settings or using the Manual settings. We are very happy with this purchase .
THE Best value for quality, price and ease of use- ever!
3 December 2012
Summary: Fantastic! Best value ever. I now own TWO Canon A640 cameras because of their features and quality of photos. Highly recommend for professionals and novices alike. Best value and size is perfect too.
Summary: this is an AWESOME camera! I had the A630 and wore it out. I am so glad I was able to find this camera. The articulating viewer is very helpful because I use the camera for work on aircraft and have to get it into tight areas that I can't fit my head in to see if I am in focus, also, I use the macro a lot and I'm very satisfied.
Excerpt: I bought my Canon Power Shot A640 used off eBay for a little less than $200 including shipping ... and I know now that I got an awesome deal. This camera takes Awesome pictures!! The 10.0 MP pictures are so crisp & so clear. The LCD screen folds out and can be tilted so if you put the camera above your head to take a pic, you can swivel the LCD screen down to see what you are taking a picture of.
Canon PowerShot A640 - Best Compact Digital I've EVER Used
9 September 2012
Excerpt: I've had 5 different digital compact cameras, and the Canon A640 is, by far, the best I've used. It takes gorgeous, crisp photos. I've owned 2 Kodak and 3 other Canon models, so I have some perspective. There are few, if any, technical issues that I find distracting, though I know some users do. There are two things in particular that I like best about the A640.
Excerpt: The Canon PowerShot A640 takes the best quality pictures of any camera I have ever used. I will never buy another brand digital camera ever! It has 10.0 Mega-pixels and has several shooting modes. It's display opens instead of it just being on the back of the camera. The display even flips around so that you can see the picture when you are taking pictures of yourself.
Summary: I like that the back door is rotating so that you can get to photograph at various angles has good resolution and video processing It is a pity that this series of cameras has stopped. I've tried the whole range of the A620 until the A650 ES which I have it still today.
Summary: This is great little camera and replaces one I owned that quit funtioning (probably due to age and use). I have used it many many times to take underwater photos in a Canon case and the results are of excellent quality. The camera is very versatile and I can use it in many different underwater situations and conditions and get great photos.
An excellent camera! Even after 5 years it's pictures are hard to beat.

Summary: The A640 is an excellent 'point & shoot' camera. It does not have some of the more recent nifty features (like, image stabilization and face recognition) but I will gladly take an A640 over most new point & shoots. The control options that are available when you leave full auto mode are excellent and the lens is outstanding. The sensor is also very good at the lower ISO's. My first A640 gave me 80,000+ shots and only faltered near the end.
