Canon A630 and 640 - excellent underwater and AA batteries too...
30 September 2013
Summary: This is one of the better point & shoots from Canon - with the fact that it runs on AA batteries being a bonus. In this case, I bought an old one - supposedly clean & pristine - with a Canon underwater housing to match. This combination is excellent for your average diving holiday, where the camera is usually left on its video selection and the results are excellent.
Summary: I bought this for my daughter who is interested in photography. We have used it for landscapes, portraits and video and it has worked beautifully while giving her the opportunity use the automatic settings or using the Manual settings. We are very happy with this purchase .
THE Best value for quality, price and ease of use- ever!

Summary: Fantastic! Best value ever. I now own TWO Canon A640 cameras because of their features and quality of photos. Highly recommend for professionals and novices alike. Best value and size is perfect too.
Summary: this is an AWESOME camera! I had the A630 and wore it out. I am so glad I was able to find this camera. The articulating viewer is very helpful because I use the camera for work on aircraft and have to get it into tight areas that I can't fit my head in to see if I am in focus, also, I use the macro a lot and I'm very satisfied.
Summary: I like that the back door is rotating so that you can get to photograph at various angles has good resolution and video processing It is a pity that this series of cameras has stopped. I've tried the whole range of the A620 until the A650 ES which I have it still today.
Summary: This is great little camera and replaces one I owned that quit funtioning (probably due to age and use). I have used it many many times to take underwater photos in a Canon case and the results are of excellent quality. The camera is very versatile and I can use it in many different underwater situations and conditions and get great photos.
An excellent camera! Even after 5 years it's pictures are hard to beat.

Summary: The A640 is an excellent 'point & shoot' camera. It does not have some of the more recent nifty features (like, image stabilization and face recognition) but I will gladly take an A640 over most new point & shoots. The control options that are available when you leave full auto mode are excellent and the lens is outstanding. The sensor is also very good at the lower ISO's. My first A640 gave me 80,000+ shots and only faltered near the end.
Summary: This camera is a gem. It is easy to use. my wife and I have worn out our old A640. I bought her a new camera ??? and I went looking for a replacement for our old reliable. I am totally amazed that when I was bidding on this camera that a brand new Canon A640 was on the market for $700.00 big ones. I am really happy with my purchase and know that I can take it anywhere because of all it's qualities.
Summary: Not only do these models take great pictures, but the preview screen swivels and tilts to almost any angle. This one feature let's you see over crowds, etc. and focus on the subject, instead of hoping the picture will come out. The one purchased on eBay was a replacement for the same camera that took thousands of pictures from a motorcycle that traveled tens of thousands of miles. The first withstood several years of vibration, rough handling and being dropped (a lot).
Summary: The Canon A640 is in my opinion one of if not the best "point & shoot" cameras out there. I bought my first A640 four years ago and now I have purchased a second from ebay. My first one was taken hostage by my wife. I have a DSLR but I carry my A640 every where I go. I say it is the best camera because: It is small enough to carry in my shirt or pant pocket & easy to use.
