Good Camera

  • Excerpt: I got this camera for a digital photography class.  It had all the features needed but is to big and bulky.  I never use it because it is too much to carry around.  You can get the same features in a smaller camera that is smaller and easier to manage.

Canon Powershot is easy to use for the beginner

  • Excerpt: I've had this camera for a few years and had originally purchased it as one to use until I could get a nicer camera with focusing ability.  This camera does give you a little bit of zoom and the ability to do an autoflash or turn the flash off, with several different settings for people, night time, foilage, etc.  I've found that most of the pictures that I take when it is not on the auto setting come out very blurry.

"It's alright, but not my favorite."

Kim5155, CNET

  • Pros: AMAZING quality photos--as long as you have good lighting, Video mode with sound, flippable LCD screen which produces unique angles with photos
  • Cons: Horrible quality in low lighting... this goes for both photos and video shot indoors with poor lighting. It takes 4 batteries.. if you use it a lot, it'll go through them like candy.

  • Summary: I too bought this camera. Within months it started acting up and going blank during trying to take pictures. It works one minute and goes blank. This is one of the worst cameras I ever owned.
  • Pros: Looks pretty
  • Cons: The whole camera. Would not recommend

Disappointed with color & Auto-focus

michaelk-07, epinions.com
11 March 2007
  • Summary: My A630 doesn't give vibrant colors like my old Kodak & Nikon cameras. Auto setting is unreliable (esp. the focus), but at least I have other choices/controls.
  • Pros: Lots of options and controls (shutter priority, flash strength, etc). Step-up from full-auto.
  • Cons: flat color, lack of clarity. Auto setting undependable (esp focus)

Not what I expected

FlamingJune1967, Amazon
5 December 2006
  • Summary: I currently own a Canon A80 (which I love) and was interested in upgrading to the highly reviewed A630. I received the camera in time for Thanksgiving and took about 200 photos with it in a variety of conditions. Everything was great until I got home and downloaded my photos to the computer. About half of them were blurry... but worse, ALL of my indoor shots had a lot of noise.
