Summary: Modern digital cameras offer more pixels but this one can make pics printable at A3 size, which is good enough for me. I bought this for my wife, actually, because it is a good camera and easy to use, but you can grow into it, if you get more serious. I found one like it at an estate sale and bought it for $2.50 because it had no shutter button. No problem. I repaired it and found that I had a really nice camera for next to nothing.
Summary: I have owned this camera for several years and have been very pleased with it. Now I own a DSLR camera and am studying professional photography. As I compare both cameras I realize that my Canon Powershot is really great for its purpose. I have stretched the bounds of any point-and-shoot camera. I definitely recommend this one.
Excerpt: This was my second digital camera. The quality of the pictures was excellent. Very clear photos and a lot of different features. The screen even flipped! This was a great camera... until it stopped working. A black screen type problem after I'd had it nearly a year and a half. From what I've read, Canon denies there is anything wrong with it, though the problem is quite widespread.
Excerpt: My Canon Power Shot A610 is the best camera I have ever had. We have had a couple other digital cameras, but none compare to this one. It is very easy to use and print the pictures. you have so many options with this camera.
I love my A610, I have been using it for almost 3 years now.

Excerpt: This is a great camera, and it also takes pretty good videos. The only thing that has gone wrong is when my youngest child got a hold of it and broke the lens in the front that open and closes. I went back to the camera shop and was told that it shouldn't cause any problems and so far he has been right.
Excerpt: The Canon - PowerShot A610 Digital Camera is user friendly and produces great pictures right out of the box. I would'nt want another brand. My whole famiy, kids included and technology challenged wife, use this camera proficiently. We love the pictures involved.
Excerpt: I've had the Canon PowerShot A610 for several years and it hasn't given me any major problems. It focuses easily and shoots a great picture. I rarely have trouble focusing on something close up, but when I do I can either zoom in from a distance or move around and that does the trick. I like how the screen folds in, keeping it safe from scratches when not in use.
Excerpt: I absolutely love this camera! It was a Christmas gift to ourselves almost 2 years ago and not had any probs with it, and yes its even been dropped a time or two. We chose this one over other brands because of the trusted brand and the fact that i've used other friends cameras and the shutter speed lacked big time. There is a children and pets mode that does have faster shutter speed but when you use the flash there is still the delay.
Excerpt: As you read this review, keep in mind that this is not my first compact camera, so my opinion is based on comparison and as such is slightly biased. I used to own the Canon A95, and I LOVED it! But it died a painful death in an "accident," so I went to go purchase the exact same camera. As it turned out, the A95 had been discontinued, but research told me that the A95 line had been picked up by the A600 line. So, I looked into the A610, and it looked pretty good.
