Summary: Been a fan of these guys for a long time. Light enough to bring camping and the manual settings are badly needed on the digitals out there. Only way you can manage low-light scenarios is by controlling both shutter speed and aperture. Unfortunately they are not durable, as I have gone through three of them. Then again, I take my cameras to rough situations.
Summary: The Powershot A590IS is a wonderful little camera that takes excellent picture and has enough manual controls to assure good results in more creative situations. Newer models similar to this camera have more megapixels but no IS so generally speaking image quality is no better and may not be as good. Uses AA batteries so powering the camera is never a problem.
Summary: I purchased this camera shortly after Christmas 2008 as my first digital camera - I good choice it was. This camera takes quality photos. It has manual and "semi-manual" modes (like "P"), which I like, so that I can control the results of images (previews of image results are provided via the lcd screen in the camera).
Summary: This camera works awesome!!! I bought it to use it in astronomy. I receive it in very well conditions!!! The camera is of great quality and I can even say that although it is an old model it is a lot better than actual digital camera models. It is a great camera for everyday use and I would not hesitate to buy other one in another moment.
AMAZING camera, great quality pics for a small price

Summary: I LOVE this camera!!!!! It is very easy to use and easy to hold. There is a ledge to grip where cannon is written. It feels very stable in my hands!!!!! My 17 year old son said he thinks they should start making this camera again. (He has taken classes in school on photography and enjoys taking pictures.) He said the manuel settings are easy to use. For a point and shoot he says it's pretty good. He did say the iso doesn't go very high (1600).
Very nice camera with viewfinder, too bad it is discontinued.

Summary: This is the ideal camera for me. It is easy to use, and I can carry it in my pocket. The camera has a viewfinder, which is vital for outdoor photography in full sunlight (glare is bad on a screen) and also is vital for older photographers who would have to fish around for reading glasses to compose shots using the viewscreen. If you keep the viewscreed dark, and shoot mostly in sunlight, two AA batteries can carry you through over a thousand shots.
Summary: I bought this camera about 3 years ago and the only reason I need a new camera is my 2 year old 'played' with it. I have taken great pics of him with it everywhere. I cannot complain at all about it. I recommend it for a general use camera due to its size and features. I like the black and white pic feature too. The software is great for the computer, too.
Summary: This is the last model of the line of this very popular canon compact digital camera. Its "full" feathered features (manual, shutter and aperture priority, optical view finder, optical stabilizer, etc) let a photograph-lover with tight budget can still enjoy the fun of creative photographing. Of course, the quality of photos and camera performance are in top of its category. That is why I bought a Canon 590A IS even it is a lightly used one.
Summary: The Canon PowerShot A590 IS is a handy little camera. Sturdy body, stablize a plus, good size screen, simple menu options. Great for entry level to digital. Easy to download pictures. Prints look great. If you don't over use the flash the battery life is extented.
Summary: This camera is small and compact but has a big camera punch! There is virtually NO delay like there is in most digital cameras of this size. The pictures are beautiful and the zoom is great for a camera this size. One of my favorite features of this camera is the fact that is takes two AA batteries rather than the rechargeable that most cameras take. If I am out and about and the battery dies, any souvenir shop or quick stop will have batteries.
