Excerpt: This camera is pretty good for the price, and it's been pretty durable. I've dropped this camera onto rock outcrops so many times, and it still works. I've taken this camera hiking for miles in the rain, and it still works. Granted some of the words and symbols are starting to rub off, it is still in perfectly usable condition after having it for over a year and a half.
Cannon Powershot A590 is ok, would have gotten the Nikon

Excerpt: I bought this Canon Power Shot A590 two years ago when I had my first child. It replaced a HP camera I had that took too long to snap a picture. Although this Canon Power Shot takes pictures quicker than my old HP, it still is a little on the slow side for capturing children. I have seen other cameras that my friends have and the picture quality on my Canon power shot is not as good as the others. Looking back, i wish i would have gotton a Nikon coolpix.
Even though the Canon Power Shot A 590 is a great camera

Excerpt: Even though the Canon Power Shot A 590 is a great camera, the battery door will break easily. The part is very affordable but the labor is not easy. If you are one of the lucky ones to have a camera repair shop close to you then you should be able to get it fixed for around $35.00. I love the pictures my Canon Power Shot A 590 takes compared to the other cameras I had. All in all this camera is a great product.
Excerpt: i like my canon camera because it has a face finder, and it does a lot of other stuff.like if you turn the camera sideways the pix turns to. you can zoom in at a real close range.it takes really clear pix and it looks amazing on the coputer .it also does video and sound. Excerpt: I received this camera as a gift several years ago because I needed a portable point and shoot. This camera generally does the job, and decently too. Aesthetically, this camera feels pretty solid although it is fairly thick and is annoying to carry around in the pocket. Some of what I like about tihs camera is that it has Automatic Image Stabalizer, Decent Optical zoom, Face recognition and the price.
Excerpt: I bought this a590 a few years ago and it's been my main point and shoot camera in that time. I mostly take pictures at concerts, stuff for sale, etc. and for light use it is more than adequate. It has an ergonomic design, much easier to use than the super small cameras. The stability feature works really well except in zoom mode, but that's to be expected. As far as reliability, I have been more than impressed.
Summary: I bought this camera in 2008. Here are the pros and cons: Pros: Good size- fits in hand and pocket. Very good resolution- if you're taking a still, well-lit shot, your can blow the pictures up very large and still have a decent resolution. Good video and sound: you can video in fairly low light and sound is ok. Cons: They give you a tiny chip- you have to buy one large enough to hold 200 pictures. This cost me $20, but could be less now.
Summary: One of the few compact digital cameras that has fully programmable settings (for shutter and aperature priority), and also can use regular AA batteries. However, the camera seemed a bit on the flimsy side since the body and area around the lense were plastic (not metal like the SD series of cameras), and if mega pixels matter, it was only 8.0 (many are now 12 and higher).
Summary: I had a terrible experience w/ Cannon and this camera. Loved the camera...had a little trouble operating at first, but figured out it was user error...camera came with a 1 year warrantee, and OF COURSE, 8 months later, the camera stopped working. I was in the middle of taking a picture, and it just turned off. It was not dropped..it just stopped working.
Excerpt: This was one of the first point and shoot cameras my family owned. We had always had film cameras, but finally wanted to get rid of the hassle of developing our films. We bought this camera on Amazon for a little of $300 at that time and used it very often. They camera was great. The shots were clear and there were options and settings for different types of pictures. If you liked to take pictures of plants there was a setting for that.
