Excerpt: I've had this camera for a little over 4 years now. It has always been a solid performer. I've taken it to concerts, outdoor events, family gatherings, and sporting events. The settings are easy to change and simple to use. It allows you to control everything in manual mode, or switch to fully automatic. I think it zooms quickly and I don't have problems with autofocus as compared to my friend's and family's point and shoot cameras.
Summary: I have had this camera for just over 18 months and was really pleased with it until it suddenly stopped working (just before Christmas) and gave me an on-screen stating that there was a 'lens error, restart camera'. Not possible to restart and so this was an expensive mistake as I will now need to buy another camera.
Summary: the canon powershot range comes with a free on-screen error message, "e18", which basically means that the lens is jammed and nothing can be done about it. avoid this miserable piece of rubbish. (and don't come crying to me when it happens to you too.
