Excerpt: My son turned 10 a week after Christmas and he wanted a camera. We didn't have a lot of time so we looked at inexpensive cameras on line and then went out to Target and Wal-mart. We set a price limit of $75.00 if possible. What we found was Canon - PowerShot A490 Digital Camera. * It was on sale under $70.00 but as we looked at the camera we realized it was much better than most of the more expensive cameras.
Excerpt: Takes good pictures. Ilike the fact that it uses aa batteries. Its compact and easy to use.The one thing I do not like about this camera is that when using the flash it takes around 10 to 15 seconds to recharge and am able to take another picture.
Summary: I'm not a professional photographer, and can't be bothered to learn the ins and outs of a complicated piece of equipment. This little Canon is perfect for me. It's small enough to tote everywhere, it's basically point and shoot, and it's easy to download the pictures. I'll describe the drawbacks that keep it from being 5 star across the board, but please bear in mind that in all other areas, this camera is just great.
Works better than you would expect for a point and shoot

Summary: I enjoy photography. I'm not the type to have cameras that cost $,$$$ because I am a broke college student, not that I don't want one. When my last camera broke while on vacation (yeah, not such a happy thing) I found myself in the market for a new one prior to a school trip to Europe. I didn't want a camera that would attract a lot of attention as I toured, but I wanted something that would take a decent shot, oh, and something that wouldn't break the bank.
Summary: bought this for my 12 year old granddaughter, who is computer savy, she loves it and figured it out withen an hour. great price and gift. Make sure you get a larger memory card for it so it holds more pictures and runs faster.
