The digital camera market is jam packed with dirt-cheap digicams, but there are only a few in this under-$150 range that I would recommend to just about anyone. The Canon PowerShot A460 is just such a camera. Its 5-megapixel sensor is more than enough for the average snapshooter wanting to create 4x6 and 5x7 prints. Read more

My daughter was going to go back to my old film camera, because she was not happy with any of the digital cameras she had purchased. She said the cameras break or the pictures were not of good quality. I purchased this Canon Power Shot camera for her over a year ago. She is very happy with it. Takes good pictures and is a sturdy small camera. Read more

A good camera for basic shooting, and some nice hidden gems. Nice picture quality for 5 mp. The size isn't the smallest, but it's worth it for the long zoom. Great price as well! Read more

    • Good quality in well light places, fair flash, simple AA batteries, viewfinder, hidden gems (ex: super macro close up mode), affordable, microphone, 4x zoom, software,...
    • Big and bulky, strange button placement, bad video, poor low-light (without flash), small screen, normal batteries have short life.

Review Summary

The Canon Powershot A460 is a small practical camera specially designed to just point and shoot. With its 4x zoom lens and optical viewfinder, the Canon Powershot A460 is known to be a single and easy to use camera by its users. It comes in handy for people who are just beginning to learn about photography. Its controls are well placed and easy to be accessed. The menu system is known to be logically organized which allows the camera setting to be changed in very fast movements. Loyal fans of Canon consider its functions to be unique in many ways. That view might be partial as many non-Canon fans feel that the Canon Powershot A460 has no important manual-control features to offer. Neither stylish nor ultra-thin, the Canon Powershot A460 is said to be weighting around 7.4 ounces and is 1.6 inches thick. This points out the fact that it won’t fit in one’s pocket. One user described the Canon Powershot A460 as an irritating design, and large thumbs will be prone to accidentally bumping the zoom in or out, or changing settings such as flash when using the zoom. Some users dislike the fact that the Canon Powershot A460 has a very noisy system function which includes while taking shots which might seem like an uncomfortable process to many. Its zoom seems awkward to many and there’s no 30fps VGA movie mode. While some think that taking Exceptional Pictures is a Snap with Canon’s New A-Series Cameras. Despite that, the Canon Powershot A460 is known to have a very strong body as according to one user, it still works fine after being dropped, stuffed in bags and being able to sustain in the heat and dust. Its battery works fine and able to sustain itself or a long time.
