Good for a year, not much more.

Summary: I've had two of these now over the past four years. Why? Because they break. Easily and frequently. In both cases, the little screws around the base had fallen out one by one. The camera kept together, but it had loose seams. The "damage" happened with the lens.
Summary: Purchased this to keep on hand to get those spur of the moment hobby quick shots. I'm a photographer by trade but can't always have my camera with me and this certainly is a great stand in for my personal use, even if it's a couple years old. Shoots wonderful video but I mostly use the camera.
Summary: Broke after about a year. Canon must be lowering its standards because my son's older silver canon can at least still turn on if he fiddles with the lens servos. This one won't even extend the lens out before posting a "lens error" and he never mistreated this one to the best of my knowledge.
Summary: REALLY like this camera--takes very clear, balanced photos, lots of nice features (including movies and zoom), easy to download photos to computer with cable attachment (can use downloadable software from Canon, together with iPhoto), nice-looking and sturdy (I dropped mine, with no ill-effects).
Summary: Yes, I really loved it in the beginning. Then suddenly it lost the whole lense protecter !! How could this have fallen off? Wonder what I do now? No-one has this part -my whole camera is not worth much anymore. Had several cameras in my life, this has never happened before.
