  • Summary: This camera does all you could ask for except the video is a little low in recording time. But it waan't made to be a camcorder either. Nery happy and pleased with it. Well worth what it costs.

  • Summary: cannon is a very good co. and their products are top notch. The one I bought was used alot but still works very well. If I were to buy anew camera I would have to seriously consider a cannon product. New this is pricey but you wont be sorry for years to come.

I loved this little digital camera for many years

electrum!, Ebay
28 February 2011
  • Summary: A previous reviewer wrote: "All camera functions work with exception of software for Computer. Could not transfer photos to computer". This is most likely due to operating system issues. Remember this camera was first sold in the early '00s' and the software was designed for operating systems of those days, i.e. Windows 95 and 98 (and maybe others). But one can work-around this problem with Canon Powershot software available on the Web. It is not a serious problem.

I take it everywhere!

conzinger, Ebay
15 June 2010
  • Summary: I bought this specific camera from eBay because I already had the software and knew how to use it. Both my ex and I wanted our camera. I let her have it and kept watching eBay for one I could get for myself. I love snapping photos, transfering them to my computer, and uploading them to my enewsletter or blog or websites. Even though it takes a couple of seconds to focus and snap, I still wouldn't trade it for anything right now.

It Lacks but it Works

  • Summary: Yes you are right! When it comes to digital technology, newer is often better because it offers enhancements and improvements. This principle stands out clearly when it comes to digital cameras. Now, what I like about the A40 is that it offers advanced manual controls. One can adjust the ISO setting, from 50 to 1600; one can choose the exposure level; and the F-Stop offers two choices.

  • Summary: This camera is very clean and the woman is super with dealing with a very small problem. I found out that if you sell something atleast clean it up for the next owner that just being repectful of others. I couldn't ask for anything any better then what I bought. I have been alittle dispointed in some of the other items that I have purshased here as far as them being dirty and not clean. This tells me about the person or persons having used these items.

  • Excerpt: "...of the more interesting examples. The Canon PowerShot A-series range (still in existence today, albeit in considerably changed form) began life with relatively simple cameras which, though well built and reasonably feature-rich, did not have the photographic control for which the series was later to become famous. The first entry to have a _full_ range of such controls was the slightly later A60, but the A40 I'm reviewing here began the move and ...
  • Pros: Canon quality, decent lens, generally attractive results, fair degree of user control
  • Cons: Control layout is a bit of a mess, no AP/SP modes, feeble movie capability

Super snapper

  • Excerpt: "...around £40-£50 at the moment. The canon lens is excellent and gives 3.0x zoom, enhanced to 7.0x digital zoom. This is very much a snapper of a camera, so paparazzi style long-shots are not possible. ( Even so, every year I try to take a picture of the Red Arrows with it!) Like most cameras, it comes with several modes but in reality you mostly use "auto" which will take a good picture of pretty much anything within range. Occasionally I ...
  • Pros: Great quality pictures for only 2 . 0 mp .
  • Cons: No battery power indicator, rather dated now .
