Canon PowerShot A3400 IS
1 May 2012
Summary: The Canon PowerShot A3400 is the mid-range A Series PowerShot for 2012, but it has one unusual feature that sets it apart from its stablemates - a 3 inch touch screen. Until now if you wanted a touch screen Canon compact you had to look to the up market IXUS range, the A3400 IS brings touch screen control within the reach of those on smaller budgets.
Pros: 3 inch touch-screen., 5x stabilised optical zoom., Small and slim, light and sleek., 16 Megapixel Sensor., Dedicated help button.
Cons: Poor High ISO noise performance., No optical zoom while in movie mode., Poor continuous shooting performance.
Excerpt: The A3400 IS was launched in February 2012 as part of Canon's range of PowerShot cameras, as well as the A810, A1300, A2300 and A2400 IS. It is available in black, bronze, pink and white for around £120.00.
Pros: Built-in help guide, Available in a good range of colours, Good creative modes, Images have really good colour reproduction, Easy to use
Cons: Only 720p HD video recording, No fast continuous shooting, Image detail isn't sufficient for large prints, Screen difficult to see in bright conditions
Summary: It used to be that Canon s smallest cameras were the Ixus brand. When this PowerShot arrived I had to look at the box to be sure it was a PowerShot as it is truly tiny and only the Canon Ixus offerings have been this small.
