Canon PowerShot A3100 IS Camera Review

Review guidelines
6 May 2013
  • Summary: The Canon PowerShot A32100 IS is a compact digital good quality and packed with features to help you get the best shots in all circumstances, even if it does not excel in any area. It has a high resolution, image stabilizer, functions peri portraits, support for external flash. For the rest, the memory is poor, the zoom in the media, does not record movies in HD and the sensitivity is not very high.
  • Pros: Stabilizer; Compact design; Support for external flash, Face Detection, Motion Detection
  • Cons: Memory; ISO; Zoom Not exceptional

Canon PowerShot A3100 IS

CNET

  • Summary: The Canon PowerShot A3100 IS is a very good simple point-and-shoot, even though it doesn't do much beyond that.
  • Pros: Optical image stabilization; excellent photo quality for its class.
  • Cons: Weak feature set; cheap feel for its price.

Canon PowerShot A3100 IS Review

photographybay.com

  • Summary: In closing, I have to admit that I was a bit surprised by the capability of such an affordable camera.  I imagine that there will be quite a few Canon A3100 models handed out as gifts to new digital camera users in the coming months and in the 2010 holiday season.  As such an affordable option, it will be tough to pass up.

Canon PowerShot A3100 IS Review

Digital Camera Review
1 April 2010
  • Summary: CONCLUSION The Canon PowerShot A3100 IS is noticeably different in terms of both design and size from its predecessors and is obviously targeted to casual photographers rather than photography enthusiasts who bought earlier "A" series models. Factor in the new Lithium-ion power pack and the A3100 is actually closer to Canon's Digital Elph models than to earlier "A" series units.
  • Pros: Easy to use, Compact, First rate optics, Excellent image quality, Very good feature set, Reasonably-priced
  • Cons: No manual exposure capability, Battery life could be better, No optical viewfinder, No handgrip

Canon PowerShot A3100 IS

Steve's Digicams
17 March 2010
  • Excerpt: Canon's new PowerShot A3100 IS is one of the first in the "A" series line to feature a Li-Ion battery pack, instead of using standard AA-type cells. This allows the 12.1-Megapixel camera to be very thin and more compact than the other cameras in this series. The A3100 also features a 4x optical zoom lens with optical image stabilization, DIGIC III image processor, Smart Auto shooting mode, a Low-Light shooting mode and a 2.7-inch LCD screen.

  • Conclusion: The Canon A3100 wades into the fray with a formidable specification list. Its 12.1MP sensor is a good start, and its 4x optical zoom, stabilised lens and big TFT on the back all make it a serious contender. But cameras like the Ixus 105 are just as serious.

Canon Powershot A3100 IS

Cameras
8 August 2014
  • Excerpt: The Canon Powershot A3100 IS is a step up on an entry level digital camera. This is mainly due to the design and build of the camera. It can take a good picture in most situations. The features on offer are solid rather than spectacular, but I thought the Powershot A3100 IS felt good in the hand and I like the simple design. For me the main attraction is the quality of the pictures it takes.
  • Pros: Picture quality
  • Cons: Shutter delay with flash

Canon PowerShot A3100 IS

PhotographyBLOG
16 July 2010
  • Excerpt: The Canon PowerShot A3100 IS is outwardly very similar to the more expensive and better-specced A2100 IS camera, which has now been dropped from the range, and the cheaper and less-capable A1100 IS, which is still listed as an available model. Despite its budget price-tag, the A3100 a well-made and compact digital camera with a serious matt-blue plastic body and excellent overall finish.
