Canon PowerShot A2400 IS, A2300: Simple pocket cams for casual snapshooters
7 September 2012
Summary: The entry-level Canon PowerShot A2400 IS and its IS-less linemate the A2300 are simple cameras with nice picture quality for casual snapshooters, but the price difference isn't worth sacrificing the image stabilization.
Pros: The Canon PowerShot A2400 IS and PowerShot A2300 have very good picture quality for their class and are loaded with effects and filters.
Cons: The cameras' flat buttons and cramped layout may make use difficult for some and shooting performance is slow, particularly shot-to-shot. The lenses require a lot of light or high ISOs when zoomed in. Battery life is short.
Summary: The Canon PowerShot A2300 is the 'house red' of Canon's 2012 PowerShot line up. A notch up from the low end AA-powered budget PowerShots the A810 and A1300, it's a basic point-and-shoot compact with some refinements designed to make it more appealing
than Canon's (and the competition's) entry-level models at minimum extra cost.
The headline feature is the 5x optical zoom, increased from the 4x offering of its predecessor.
Pros: 5x optical zoom., Small and slim, light and sleek., 16 Megapixel Sensor., Dedicated help button.
Cons: No optical image stabilisation., Digital IS is not full resolution., No optical zoom while in movie mode., Poor High ISO noise performance.
Conclusion: The Canon PowerShot A2300 is a compact point-and-shoot camera that is capable of some sharp images, but its value is questionable as Canon markets an identical camera with image stabilization for only $10 more.
Excerpt: The A2300 was launched in February 2012 as part of Canon's range of PowerShot cameras, as well as the A810, A1300, A2400 IS and A3400 IS. It is available in black, silver, pink and blue for around £90 - £100.
Pros: Built-in help guide, Available in a good range of colours, Good creative modes, Images have really good colour reproduction, Easy to use
Cons: Only 720p HD video recording, No fast continuous shooting, Image detail isn't sufficient for large prints
Conclusion: Canon PowerShot A2300 is a decent budget camera that comes chock-a-block with truck loaded features that are easy to use to provide you enhanced photographic experience. Overall, it?s a great device in elegantly designed slim package.
