Nice pictures, flimsy construction.

Summary: For a year and a half this camera took fine pictures. Last week the camera fell off a counter to a wood floor. The camera hit on its corner- the corner where the battery compartment is. Even though the compartment was locked closed, a tiny hook-shaped piece of plastic broke off inside. That miniscule piece of plastic kept the battery door latched. Now the door partially pops open and I need a piece of duct tape to hold it closed, otherwise the camera is useless.
Summary: The camera broke after one year...the auto lens is stuck and after forcing it closed one time per troubleshooting tips online, it is stuck again and will no longer work. The camera felt super cheap to me when I first ordered it. I would definitely NOT recommend this camera...now to find another one...ugh!
Summary: Absolutely hate this camera. Had a Powershot A95 that died 3 days before leaving for vacation, so I bought one of these so that I wouldn't have to spend alot of time learning to use it. What a disappointing replacement. The picture quality isn't any better than the A95 which only had 5 megapixels.
Summary: I purchased this camera less than 8 months ago and at the time did not realize that this camera will produce a fatal error message, rendering this camera useless. The screen turns black and has script at the bottom telling you there is a "lens error. Restart camera". Canon denies this camera having this problem on many sites. The camera worked incredibly well up until this point, and would buy another one if I was guaranteed not to ever have this problem again.
Summary: I bought this camera in August and used it to take photos of my son's wedding. After only 3 months, while taking photos of my grandchildren, I received a lens error message and the camera would not work. I sent it in under warranty (with all of the receipts and paperwork) and I was told that it would cost me $110.00 to repair as they found dust in it. If normal use could cause it to get dust inside and stop working then this is not a camera I would recommend.
Summary: Bought this camera in December 2009. By June 2010, camera lens would not open due to a lens error. It seems that this is a common error and it's too expensive to have fixed. There are many websites devoted to this error and how to diy fix. Unfortunately, the diy problems would not work. Most people have to purchase another camera. Having had Canon cameras for years and years, it is a disappointment that Canon would make a shoddy product and pass it on as high quality.
Summary: This is the fourth point-and-shoot digital camera that I've owned since 2002, so I have a standard of comparison by which to make this review. The battery problems of this camera make it unusable. I bought the camera primarily because it will use standard AA batteries. I inserted the batteries that came in the box with it, took about 6 test shots and received the "batteries exhausted" command on the screen.
Summary: After only three months the lens would no longer open. I followed instructions from others on the internet who experienced the same problem. I could not get it open. The camera was like new. I only used it a few times. Never dropped it. Yes, the pictures were good but...a "throw away camera" after only three months!! Too expensive for that! The cost of sending it back for repair exceeded the value of the camera. Check this problem out online BEFORE you spend your money.
Summary: I have a PowerShot A520 and wanted to upgrade. Needless to say, I sent this camera back and went back to using my old camera. This camera left half of my pictures blury and grainy. I am used to using a Powershot and was really surprised when I saw how this one took pictures. The pictures were terrible. I took some more with my old camera and had them printed at the same time and the same place to make sure and it was this camera that did so poor. Do not recommend.
Summary: Don't waste your money on this one. The picture quality is very poor, the battery is not rechargeable, the photoediting software that comes with it doesn't have a lot of features. I am very disappointed on this purchase.
