Summary: I've had this camera since September 2010 and it was a last minute purchase from our local supermarket in Cyprus as we were flying to Egypt the same afternoon only to discover our original camera was broken! We paid a little less than €100 (EURO) for it and have been pleasantly surprised by it.
Pros: I love the size and ease of use. Very simple to take decent photos, the zoom woks perfectly well (enough to take a photo from our hotel room across to the West Bank of Luxor, Egypt of the hot air balloons taking off early in the morning).
Cons: The manual had no English (we're in Cyprus) neither any Greek but I did download one from the internet. I find the functions not so simple to remember and so haven't really made full use of them as I don't have my pc with me when I want to fiddle with the controls!
Excerpt: A really great compact if you ask me. *One thing, the specs said, 1.4 fps on continuous mode, but here's a trick, you can haste it up by choosing ISO3200 mode, it can shoot up to 3fps.* It is also great at landscapers, though a wider focal length is better.
Excerpt: An excellent workaround fully corrects the unacceptable flaw in the "AUTO" mode of this otherwise excellent iteration (PowerShot SD1200 IS, alias Digital IXUS 95 IS) of the Canon IXUS family: - Choose the "Kids&Pets" mode (instead of the default "AUTO" mode) - Set the "Recording Pixels (Image Size)"...
Summary: My daughter is 14 year old, needless to say she is careless about stuff adn eventhough she has dropped the camera several times, exposed it to the sun for a prolonged period of time etc etc, it is still working!!!
Summary: I bought this camera in Jan of 2010 and I LOVE IT!! It is awesome! It does such a great job at stabilization that I can had it to my 4 yr old and let him take pictures and 4 out of 5 of them will turn out awesome even though he ran, jumped, and spun while shooting the pictures!
Summary: I am very happy to own this Canon Powershot model! I have owned a few Canons before this one and I find that the features have mostly kept improving, year to year and model to model. The picture quality is fantastic; much clearer than years before.
Summary: I love this camera. I at first had a it of a problem focusing on moving targets like fast moving kiddos, but have since mastered that. I use it all the time taking it on bicycle rides every weekend. I like the poratbility it fits perfectly in my pocket or bicycle bag.
Excerpt: This appears to be the last of Canon's SD series cameras that have a viewfinder window...so I bought three of them as it is the last SD series Canon I will ever buy. This last one was a bargain...$97 for a refurbished one from NewEgg (The others were $150 and $140, but were "new".
