Canon Powershot SD Sleek, nice pictures but poor battery life

  • Excerpt: Earlier this year we bought our Canon Powerhot SD1200 IS in a lovely aqua blue color. I love how sleek and small the camera is, it easily fits in a coat pocket. It takes lovely pictures but has terrible battery life. We have to charge it constantly. My husband hypothesized that it loses it's battery life so quickly because the face detection technology it constantly uses.

The canon powershot is powerful but sometimes faulty

  • Excerpt: I've been dealing with canon cameras for about five years. They have all been okay and I can't seem to get away from the brand, but sometimes they seem too sensitive. I've had to get a new camera almost every year because of the famous "lens error". A few times it's because I've gotten sand in the lens, but other times the camera has just messed up on it's own. The other issue I have with these cameras is sometimes as the camera ages it loses it's picture quality.

Auto settings horrible!

Craig Smith, Amazon
2 December 2010
  • Summary: I loved my previous version of this camera, but the auto settings are horrible. About 50% of the photos are either out of focus or grainy like a 2 MP camera.

  • Summary: Love the point and shoot functionality of this camera and the "Kids & Pets" setting. Takes great pictures and I have not been disappointed in this area. I am disappointed in how cheap the parts are. Within a minute of picking it up, my 3yo was somehow able to mess up the lens cover so it doesn't close properly (and she didn't rip it up, she was just touching it!).

slightly disappointed

L. Doong "ugarugger", Amazon

  • Summary: I've owned a few Canon powershot cameras over the years, and in general I have been very happy with them (obviously if I keep buying them). But this particular model has a few flaws that have really disappointed me since I purchased the camera in Oct. 2009. 1. the auto focus hasn't been working properly - especially in indoor situations. Many times when trying to take photos of friends, I've noticed that the auto focus changes to the macro setting.

  • Summary: **Type in search Canon SD1200 Bundle for same price. It won't show if you don't search for it.** I purchased this camera for it's GREAT bundle price which comes with a 4gb SD card and the IS feature $149.00. Pictures are still blurry... very disappointed about the IS. Overall, It is a very easy digital camera to use and is attractive. It does take great clear pictures in OUTSIDE LIGHT. Pictures are better outside of course. Not very good indoors.

The Canon PowerShot SD1200 Is Simple and Average

TNCountryGirl, Viewpoints
21 December 2009
  • Excerpt: The Canon PowerShot SD1200 IS Digital is simply average. This Canon PowerShot is easy to use, and lightweight, but the quality of the pictures, is average and nothing spectacular. I have tried many different settings, but none have been striking (Vivid Color Setting comes the closest). Zooming in causes the picture to be blurry and undesirable to look at.
