I would love to like it, but for indoor family snapshots the picture quality is poor

Summary: I have been a loyal Canon customer for years but it has ended with the SD1200is. The camera has great features. Unfortunately, the indoor picture quality is poor. I purchased this camera to replace an aging Canon S50 which is a 5 or 6 years old 5 megapixel camera. After using the SD1200 on Christmas day and experimenting with a variety of shooting modes, I have concluded that the SD1200 not incapable of taking good indoor photos.
Excerpt: My family have Powershots in the 6 mpxl and 7-something mpxl ranges. Both take sharp pictures. This 1200IS, with its 10 mpxls, does not take good pix. Blurry. Set up on L + Fine. Terrible sharpness. Will return this camera on December 26th and look for something better.
Summary: I was not pleased with this camera. The picture quality was not like the sd1100IS model. I shot over 100 pictures at a family event & less than 15 pictures were salvageable. I previously own the Canon sd1100IS camera which was stolen recently; thus my need for the purchase of a new camera. When I saw that Canon had a newer model of the camera I previously owned, I thought it was going to be another great little camera. I was WRONG.
Summary: I own a Canon S30, like it and still use it as a backup. This Canon SD1200IS replaces my Casio Ex-Z600 which suddenly lost its display. I did a fair amount of research before buying it, and relied on Canon's reputation to a large degree. I've owned this camera for about 2 months and have used it several times indoors and outdoors. The good points are: 1. nice convenient size, easily fits in your purse or pocket; 2.
Summary: Canon PowerShot SD1100IS 8MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom (Brown) The link provided above was the camera that I had previously to owning this one, and it was far superior despite having a lower MP count and being an earlier model. The PowerShot SD1200IS took grainy photographs if taken without flash, and in "auto"-mode it isn't possible to force flash.
Summary: This was a great looking camera with a good feel, but that's as far as any compliments go. Poor picture quality and contrast. Pictures would look good on the cameras viewer, but very poor on a PC. Returned it and bought the SD780IS instead. More features and much better quality pictures.
Summary: I bought this as a replacement for my older Canon Powershot 850 that I dropped by accident, and have been unfortunately disappointed. While the camera itself is lighter and a bit less bulky, the image stabilizer is sub-par. I feel like whenever my subject is not still (and what young child is?), I get a blurry shot, which never happened with my older model. I chose this model to be economical, but I'm kind of sorry I didn't ante up for something else instead.
Summary: This was my third Canon camera - A powershot 550d then an ixus 850is both of which gave excellent service then this. It's so sloww[...] By the time it gets around to taking a picture the world has moved on. It's very unhappy with night shots and as a consequence I haven't got one in focus shot of my 60th birthday party - very, very disappointing.
Summary: I own another canon camera powershot S2 IS which is 4 years old model that still takes much better and sharper photographs, I've to say that picture quality of this camera is not what i expected from Canon. I'm quite aware of basic photography and optics principle, so i was not expecting it to deliver razor sharp L series photographs.
