  • Pros: Comes in your choice of colors
  • Cons: Grainy pics, Auto mode has faulty focus/flash, Flash overbright, missing modes(no Stitch Mode), might as well be a no name brand

Blurry and overexposed

IzzyChelle "AmbyChelle", Amazon
14 March 2010
  • Summary: We got this camera for my daughter for Christmas after my fater-in-law raveda about his SD1000. I cannot figure out how this camera has so many great reviews?! Are their expectations THIS low? We have a 9 year old inexpensive point and shoot that takes better photos! If everything is perfectly still and there is excellent lighting, this camera will take a decent photo. But I'd guess 90% (or more..

don't waste your money on the SD1200 is

CBlasi, Amazon
4 March 2010
  • Summary: I have owned many of the power shot cameras and this one has been by far the worst I have owned. (SD890 was the best). The camera is less than 6 months old and photo clarity has gotten so poor that I finally sent it to the canon repair center. The camera has always been inconsistent with clear pics. Every now and then a very blurry pic would show up. Hand shake was not the problem.

NOT an upgrade from the SD1100 - just a low end wanna be

A. K., Amazon
9 February 2010
  • Summary: After toying with a Canon SD1100 IS that belongs to a friend of mine, and deciding that my 7 year old Nikon point-and-shoot needed to be upgraded, I had made my decision on a new purchase. However, the Canon SD1100 had been discontinued by Canon and was no longer available from retailers. Most sites direct you to the SD1200 IS as the "newer model", just like Amazon does.

  • Summary: I bought this camera to replace my SD1100-IS (discontinued), which I recently lost at a wedding. The SD1200-IS is about $100 cheaper, but I attributed this to price reductions over the past couple of years. Wrong! The image quality is inconsistent, with better than half the photos appearing out of focus. Don't waste your money on this paperweight.

  • Summary: The camera didn't function properly in auto mode. The pictures taken in auto mode had significantly higher noise compared to the same model camera I bought a year ago. While the pictures taken in manual mode had great quality, the operation in auto mode wasn't good. As I found out the camera selected too high sensitivity thus making too short expositions. That resulted in higher noise of the images.

WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT!

J. Keele, Amazon
30 October 2009
  • Summary: I am typically the BIGGEST fan of these Canon ELPH cameras. I owned the SD450 and still do have the SD1000. The SD450 was a victim of being tossed around in luggage, so when that broke, I went with the SD1000 and was very happy. I wasn't the biggest fan of the square nature of the SD1000, but loved the camera otherwise and soon forgot about its boxy frame.
