Summary: I got the blue version and I have to say it's a looker all right. Not seen any other digital camera's from various companies on the market that look good as the Canon IXUS 500 HS. The camera quality is great and you have a lot of features to tweak in the settings.
Summary: Positive: 12x zoom is amazing for a camera of this size. Very compact, easy to put in the pocket so is always handy for taking photos. Negative: Battery life not great. Image quality is not as good as my older Canon Ixus 55, but still very good.
Summary: Lovey camera bought for my teenage daughter, she finds it very easy to use - it was bought specifically to go on a ski trip with school as the details said that it would work in colder temperatures, which it did and came back none the worse for wear.
Summary: It is a beautiful design, simple on the outside & takes very acceptable photos . In point & shoot mode it is relatively quick for action shots. The zoom is impressive but camera shake becomes visible in lower light scenarios. Overall I am very happy.
Summary: Bought to replace an Ixus 70, which just didn't have enough zoom. The Ixus 500 is 12x, which is just right. It's also tiny compared with other compact cameras, making it truly pocket size. It may not be quite as well spec'd as its competitors, but it's still very capable.
Summary: This is the third digital IXUS camera I've owned in the last five years or so, and the most impressive thing about it is that they have managed to fit a 12x zoom into a box this small. (My original IXUS 70 had a 3x zoom, and the 500 is pretty much exactly the same size.
Summary: Arrived on time and has very good features for such a small device. Still getting used to it but so far so good. Onle downside is there is no paper instruction manual and you need to buy a memory card seperately
