Summary: I had extremely high hopes for this camera. The pictures aren't any better than my previous camera, that I've had for 5 years and is wearing out. But the videos are horrible. I had to reformat every one to play on my computer and to be able to burn onto a dvd. Plus the sound was awful. The voices were muffled and I could actually hear when I used the zoom.
Summary: This camera is a total disappointment. The user interface is unacceptable. I bought it just before an overseas trip and retired it to the back bench before I got home. Fortunately I brought an older camera with usable controls as a backup. The accuracy and sensitivity of the touch screen is totally inadequate. It is very difficult to operate the menus. I'm baffled and disappointed that they aren't using the same display / touch technology used in my phone.
Summary: I bought this for my girlfriend. I own the SD4000IS myself and really like the f/2.0 aperture lens that both models share. Unfortunately, the touchscreen was frustrating enough to be a deal breaker and we ended up returning this camera. The touchscreen does not work as well as an iPhone. It can often take several taps to get the exact button correct. We decided to get another SD4000IS instead. It's too bad, because this is really a great lens and takes great pictures.
