A very good camera
20 March 2012
Summary: This camera works like the one I thought I had lost. It is easy to use as an amateur. The zoom is stronger than the first one I have. Canon PowerShot ELPH 100 HS 12.1 MP CMOS Digital Camera with 4X Optical Zoom (Blue) I picked this camera because I has such good result with my first one. Now I have two cameras. Both very good. One can just pick up the camera point and click. The pictures are clear. The videos have better sound than a recorder gets.
Summary: Prior to buying the Canon ELPH 100HS camera, I returned a Nikon S3100 to Costco due to consistently blurry pictures. That was an 'impulse buy' based on a great price. After checking the reviews at Amazon, I could see why the price was so low. There were lots of poor reviews on that particular camera for the same reason. This camera is going to Europe with my daughter in a few months, so what good are 14M pixels if the pictures are not focused properly?
Summary: Got this for my mother to replace a 10 year old camera that needed to be shot. She absolutely loves it! Super user friendly (she's in her 70's) and fantastic quality. For the record, this is the 7th or 8th person I've talked into buying an Elph. I think these rock. Buy it - you won't regret it!
Summary: The ELPH 100 HS (in Europe the model seems to be named the IXUS 115 HS) is a pretty good performer, particularly when considering it's relatively low cost. I also own a Canon Rebel T2i. While the 100 HS gives the Rebel a run for its money, there is a distinct difference in performance between the two. The much more expensive Rebel is a better camera. However, it is significantly bigger and thus more to carry.
Summary: I bought this camera to replace a 6 year old Kodak EasyShare camera for a recent trip to China. There was nothing wrong with my old Kodak, it worked and took nice pictures. I never thought the bigger screen on this Canon would make a big difference but it does. In fact, everything about this camera blows my old one out of the water. The settings, the shutter speed, the picture quality. Everything you could ask for in a simple point & shoot.
Summary: This is the 2nd Canon digital camera I've owned. First one was great, but this one is even better. Sharp images, lots of options (night-time scenes, fireworks, snow, beach, etc.) Takes great videos, too. For the money, a super value.
