Summary: After my previous Canon died on me, I started the search fo new camera. I've red many reviews to learn a couple of issues: un-reliablily of made in China Camera, Design issue of made in Japan camera and run out of power of GPS units. After reading these, I thought there is no perfect camera why I bother pay a lot of money, so I decided Canon Powershot 100. The camera is working so far, but I wanted to mention a couple of issues.
Excerpt: My first Canon, extremely pleased w picture quality overall from this tiny compact. Canon have made a compact that can appeal to your basic p&s user w their Auto option, whilst sliding a switch gives someone who wants a little more in terms of camera control and look of the image output, well in my opinion a lot more! Picture quality ok in bright daylight, ideally tweak the colours to give a more colorful look, but night time pictures are frankly excellent.
Summary: I had the predecessor to this camera and, when I felt it was ready to advance to the newer model, this was the one that I selected. It takes great pictures and the controls are easy to understand. There's also a fun 'vintage camera feature' on this one that the older version didn't have which does the vignetting around the outside edges and fisheye as well as others that's fun to play with.
Summary: After reading all the reviews, I decided to get this camera for my Dad. The camera arrived on time but when I turned it on, the lens jammed and it gave me a "Lens error. Shut down" message. I retried to no avail. Some other customers complained about the same issue. I thought it was a rare case but ended up with a faulty product myself. I was not happy because I was traveling 2 days later and this was a gift.
Summary: I purchased this camera as a replacement for the exact same one I had bought six months ago... reason for replacement.. some A**hole stole mine while I was volunteering dammit...Karma will pay them back. I love Canon Cameras. This is my third (2nd model) and I enjoy the quality, the display and the ease of use.
Summary: Well what to say its a CANON, the 3rd canon digital Camera i have bought in 4 years so great picture quality was assured. Bought it for my mother as a point and shoot camera and she loves it. Was pleasantly surprised with: VERY fast start up. video capture definitely meeting HD specs. So i will only point out things that i had a little difficulty with: 1)AUTO mode will struggle in VERY LOW LIGHT situations.
Fine Camera, but Canon 300 HS is much better for video

Summary: I was looking for a camera to replace my Canon SD780 IS, which was a nearly perfect travel and main video camera until the day it stopped focusing. Based on the reviews it looked like the Canon PowerShot ELPH 100 HS would be the perfect replacement. The body of the 100 HS is plastic, which made it feel inferior to the SD780, but the pictures it took looked great. To me the real shortcoming was with its video.
Summary: I have "fancy" cameras but, sometimes you just need a simple, easy, quick point and shoot one and so far this one fits the bill. Takes good pictures in low light which was my concern and it hasn't let me down so far.
Summary: I own a few cameras, and my boyfriend is a professional photographer. We recently returned the go pro in exchange for this one. The video quality is amazing, and pictures too. If you look at your images on a large HD tv - you'll really see a difference in the quality. We bought two of these for productions, and plan to buy a case for underwater photos. Great price for a great camera.
