Worst Customer Service, Common Problem Unacknowledged By Canon, $126.95 In Warranty Repair Cost! Outrageous
10 March 2012
Summary: We had this camera for a little over 1 month when the zoom mechanism got stuck half open. We googled the problem to find that it is a flaw well know by users of Canon Powershot cameras and is not acknowledged by Canon as a flaw in camera design. The exact problem that occurs triggers the the Canon E18 error which happens when the lens gets stuck while trying to extend. The camera will beep a few times and the LCD will display a little E18 in the lower-left corner.
Summary: I had the Canon Powershot SD1100 IS since 2009, but someone stole my camera. I needed a new camera for my Catalina trip I just went on this past weekend. I COULDN'T BE MORE HAPPY with my purchase! I bought the pink one at Sammy's Camera for $109, cuz they were having a sale, or else I would've bought it on Amazon. I can't reiterate how amazing this camera is! The quality of the pics are priceless. The camera was VERY easy to use and the big screen was a HUGE plus.
Summary: I have been the owner of Canon Elph cameras for the last 5 or 6 years and can testify that the quality has gone down to the unacceptible level now. I have bought Elph 100 HS (Made in Japan, by the way) for this Christmas. After 2 months of VERY light use, the lenses would not retract or zoom anymore. The camera is dead. The camera is crap. Wished I could recommend a better point-and-shoot, but I can't.
Summary: It's a shame the camera seems to suffer from a serious design flaw. I was very happy with the camera until it suddenly developed the fatal "Lens Error" problem after two months of exceedingly gentle use. Buyer beware: don't take your chances with such a poorly engineered camera.
Summary: This is a great camera especially for the price, not to mention I love the orange color. The color makes it easy to find too ! I have a Panasonic Luminix which cost 2xs more and the pics came out with peoples faces washed out no matter what setting I put it on. I did NOT like try to predict which setting would make people look normal instead super super white. But this camera takes great pictures and finds the PERFECT setting for you.
Summary: After my previous Canon died on me, I started the search fo new camera. I've red many reviews to learn a couple of issues: un-reliablily of made in China Camera, Design issue of made in Japan camera and run out of power of GPS units. After reading these, I thought there is no perfect camera why I bother pay a lot of money, so I decided Canon Powershot 100. The camera is working so far, but I wanted to mention a couple of issues.
Summary: After reading all the reviews, I decided to get this camera for my Dad. The camera arrived on time but when I turned it on, the lens jammed and it gave me a "Lens error. Shut down" message. I retried to no avail. Some other customers complained about the same issue. I thought it was a rare case but ended up with a faulty product myself. I was not happy because I was traveling 2 days later and this was a gift.
