almost there, but disappointing
6 August 2011
Summary: I put myself through college shooting wedding photography, and now have over 20 years portrait and landscape experience as a hobby. I have used anything from a leaf shutter camera and a Hasselblad, all the way down to a pinhole camera, and most cameras in between. I understand photography.
Summary: After 1 year and 1 week, promptly after warranty expiration, I too get the dreaded lens error. One must admire Canon for its amazing timing, but the sad fact remains that I can now junk this thing.
Poor quality, autofocus died within a year from purchase

Summary: Just about a year later (I purchased March 30 of last year), the autofous died without any warning. My previous canon powershot camera died with the similar reason too. I called Canon but obviously it was just a day beyond the warrenty and my camera was not eligible for repair.
Summary: I ordered this camera and the lens broke after 2 weeks of using it. When it was working it was a fantastic camera...but the lens was having difficulty retracting and protruding and the lens wouldnt focus. I am highly dissapointed that I spent so much money on a product that didnt last!
Sadly, DO NOT buy this camera - you have been warned, seriously

Summary: Like so many others have written, my wonderful camera is now worthless. I too get the dreaded lens error message. The camera no longer functions, after just one year. Many wrote about that and I ignored it, given the other rave reviews.
Summary: the LCD screen broke on the first occasion, while being carried inside a semi-rigid case in my jacket pocket. Warranty was refused because they say it's an impact. I've owned two previous versions, and I can say this one was definitely not abused in any way, it's just too brittle.
Summary: Before you buy any Canon camera you need to be OK with the possibility that your camera may become a brick. You see, Canon cameras often times get the error message, "Lens Error, Restart Camera", and you can do NOTHING about it. Don't believe me, just call Canon and ask them yourself.
Summary: I have used Canon cameras for many years and was excited to get this model. But I have had nothing but problems with "Lens Error" issues preventing me from using the camera (this is actually the SECOND one I've tried...
poor quality, poor support, video sound is bad - lots of hum from camera

Summary: I bought this camera as an upgrade to an older Canon powershot that I was very happy with. This one, however, has been a big disappointment. First of all, within two days of purchasing it the pictures started getting white streaked lines. This had nothing to do with sunlight.
Summary: I loved this camera because of the design and portability, I just started hating it some weeks ago when the infamous 'lens error' started showing up. It worked for about 6 months. This is my third canon camera and the second one that has this issue. I think I should consider some other brand.
