Conclusion: After saving up for more than 2 years to buy this camera and several L lenses, I am very disappointed with the external flash hotshoe. I have a Canon Speedlite 480 II. The hotshoe on the camera is cheap and stiff and I have to fiddle with the flash each time I attach it as the camera does not recognize it is attached. I've had the camera since June 2012 and have had this problem right from the start. I am always fearing it is going to fail.
Conclusion: I've used the 7D for almost two years now. I love the feel of the body and the features it provides. I used a 1D MkIII before it and found the focus speed at least comparable if not better. For outdoor, bright light situations, I've found the performance to be superb. However, lower light situations are another story. I quickly noticed the higher ISO (800+) resulted in noise levels that were totally unacceptable.
Pros: good battery life, quiet, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation
Conclusion: I've had the 7D camera for 2 years now and have used it for many shooting situations and all conditions. I had thought all along that the images I produced were somewhat soft (as like that allergy med commercial says to get clear!) and there seemed to be less contrast than normal. While I have been able to correct some photo situations with post processing software, I have also lost many more shots I will never be able to use, fix or replace.
Conclusion: camera front /back focuses . such an advanced camera cannot perform those basic things .live view af works perfectly. i'm using one shot af , middle point only , static subject. checked lens , all ok . the camera now sent for service . new camera , missed a trip due to those issues .
Conclusion: It's sad that a camera like the 7d would cost so much and only able to deliver on half its hype. I've had the 7d for over a year now and every single time I try to use video, the camera shuts down every few minutes. This was never mentioned in any marketing I saw before I purchased the camera. I had to find out the truth from reading massive numbers of reviews that nearly everyone has the same problem...this is truly horrible.
Pros: quiet, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD
Cons: Shaky operation, Complicated controls/menu, video shuts down after a few minutes
Conclusion: I purchased the Canon 7D in March to replace my 50D. I thought by waiting - most of the early criticisms would find their way into a bit bucket (fixed). My initial reaction was - wow! nice equipment. I looked at my first shots and again - wow! As I got more into this camera I started to compare against my 50D, my 30D and my 300D shots. I began to see some issues with soft focus, lack of detail, noise. I do shoot RAW so I am used to working the noise out but at ISO 200?
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
