Conclusion: I have owned a Canon EOS 650, a EOS 20D, and now a EOS 7D. I was very satisfied with the first two Canons, but I am not very happy with the picture quality of the 7D. I rarely get a good quality action picture of my son playing soccer. I have the 100 - 400mm L lens and have also tried to get a better quality picture with my 75 - 300mm lens. The quality just is not there. I believe my 20D shoots a higher quality, as in in focus, sharper picture then my EOS 7D.
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Simple controls/menu
Cons: Poor image quality, image quality terrible, action image no good
Cons: Took forever to ship, weeks actually. Camera arrived finally and was missing manual, and included discs are for asian markets. Contacted Canon to get "american versions" and was informed that camera was most likely a grey market item and therefore warranties were not valid...
Conclusion: PLEASE CANON.... PLEASE... JUST WRITE THE CODE AND GIVE US AUDIO CONTROL! HOW HARD CAN IT BE? YOU HAVE IT ON ALL YOUR OTHER CAMERAS! PEOPLE PLEASE HELP ME AND BEG THEM FOR THIS! I AM ON MY KNEES RIGHT NOW TYPING THIS PRAYING TO THE CANON GODS TO PLEASE GIVE US A FIRMWARE UPDATE WITH THE AUDIO FIX! PLEASE CANON IM BEGGING YOU! PLEASE JUST FIX THE AUDIO ISSUE AND I WILL DO WHATEVER YOU WANT!
Cons: no manual audio controls, all the cheaper cameras have audio control
Summary: i have a lot of minolta lens that's why i bought it lcd. grip. compackflash cover - not good other one - more good more cheaper - campare with my friend bought same camera i have a lot of minolta lens that's why i bought it lcd. grip.
Conclusion: I'm not sure why the 7D even bothers to go up to 6400 ISO (or 12800 ISO)...anything above 1600 ISO is typically useless when it comes to noise. Perhaps you'd get acceptable results cleaning up the noise with higher-end noise reduction software but with the included DPP software, reducing noise is mostly equivalent to introducing blurring - which is to say, not good.
Conclusion: I'm simply baffled at the poor quality of images this camera produces, given the promotional hype I've seen distributed about it. The noise at high ISO was supposed to be minimal--it's not; white balance disappoints 90% of the time, and in too many instances, tack sharp focus occurs only after post-production adjustments. I'm seriously thinking of jumping ship.
Pros: Nice features/settings, Solid Operation
Cons: Poor image quality, noisy, poor white balance, focus off on moving subjects
Conclusion: I bought this camera expecting it to be far better than my 50D. How wrong I was. There was rarely a time when I had to go above ISO 100 with the 50, with the 7, there is barely any time that I can shoot under 800. Low light, forget it. You will find, grain the size of snowballs, and noise like ants on honey. The focus, is horrendous. It back focus's , it front focus's, maybe 2 out of 10 shots you do actually get focus.
Pros: it is black
Cons: noise, back focus, slow lag time, iso, soft focus, grain, front focus
