Summary: Most people really don't understand photography. If you are one of them, just buy a 5D Mk I. Get a 5D Mk II if you want to take great movies too. The 5D MkI is better than every other DSLR for a few reasons: 1. The pixels are larger than any other professional-caliber camera 2.
Summary: hi. i was waiting to get the upcoming canon 7d to replace my rebel xti, but when i realized that it was not full frame and with 18 mp, i decide to get a 5d before it gets out of stock. i got mine 5 days ago. i used it for the last 3 days and i am amazed with the image quality.
Summary: I am a pro wedding photographer. I've had a pair of these since 2006 and could not be happier. I did quite a bit of research, not just online, but in the field. I rented various models of pro offerings from Canon and Nikon.
Summary: I am a pro photographer that has been using the 20 and 40d. The full frame sensor opened up a new world for my photography and lenses. I am especially impressed with the detail I'm getting out of the shadows in my images.
Summary: I just purchased the Canon 5D, the price finally came down to the point that I could afford, I have been waiting years for this camera, read every review on the Web, I really wanted that full frame sensor.
Summary: UPS shipped my parcel wrongly to my neighbor even though the address is correct :( :( and luckily my neighbor is honest and gave it back to me. Watch out! Back to the camera, with the instant rebate, I think it is a pretty good deal regarding that there is no cheap Full Frame camera (D3 = ~$5000,...
Pros: I had tried this camera before I bought the 5D so that I know that the image quality is awesome. Some users even said that it is better than 1D MkII/MkII N which I was considering. Resolution: The camera has very high resolution which captures a lot more details but it means you need a better CPU...
Cons: These cons are minor... 1) The control is not as trivial as XT. I just need time to get used to it. 2) It is a bit big for my small hand 3) It is a bit heavy 4) Expensive. With XT, I don't have to worry about scratching the camera. But with 5D, I have to be much more careful.
Summary: And I do mean UPGRADE! The 1st pictures I took with my 5D just blew me away. I have had it for about a month now. I don't know why I waited so long to get one. The image quality is so much better than my beloved 20D. I would suggest anyone on the fence about purchasing one to fall over to the 5D.
Summary: I have owned the 5D for about 5 months. I was waiting for the 5D Mark II but I decided not to wait any longer and I am glad I didn't. Previously I had used a Rebel XT that I still own and have as a second body. Reading the review that gave it only 2 stars is just a bit dissapointing.
Summary: The Canon 5D is the best camera I've ever owned, hands down. I've owned Canon, Nikon, Pentax, Olympus and Minolta cameras and this is the best. The size, weight, build quality, everything is just right. Most of all the image quality is unparralled.
Summary: I've used this camera now for 6 months and own 3, 5D bodies! I've used it with the following Canon lenses: 24-70mm f/2.8 70-200mm f/2.8 85mm f/1.2 200mm f/1.8 300mm f/2.8 I've shot EXTENSIVELY with all lenses WIDE OPEN and have not seen ANY vignettely indicated by a couple of other reviews.
