Excerpt: I've used this gear (EOS 50D) since September 2010 and I've still enjoyed and satisfied for all components, especially for best picture result, it's great!! I still don't have a plan to change the gear otherwise if I already have money to upgrade to 7D or 6D!
Excerpt: This camera was upgrade for my husband from the Rebel XS by Canon. It is a really great camera, very fast and takes beautiful pictures. We use it everywhere! From family gatherings, to school functions, and just random shots of our two daughters. I would recommend this camera to just about everyone as a more advanced photography tool. It is pricey, but worth the money in the end!
Excerpt: I recently upgraded to this camera from a Rebel XT. Worth the extra money if you are looking to take your photography to the next level. Kit lens is okay, but I prefer a lower f-stop so I upgraded to a different lens.
Excerpt: This is a great DSLR camera. Has a very nice output. Easy to use. Good for someone who has some experience with DSLR's as it's not an entry level camera. It does have a lot of noise when you use a high ISO, which can be corrected with noiseware, but kind of annoying.
Excerpt: The Canon 50D is an excellent prosumer DSLR. It has more features than the Rebel line and is constructed of magnesium alloy. It feels sturdy and rugged in your hand without being too heavy. Something I dislike about the Rebel series is the plastic construction. The 50D body has good ergonomics that have been improved in the 7D. The 28-135mm kit lens is excellent for beginners and those looking to improve their picture taking skills. It's a decent all around lens.
Excerpt: The Canon EOS 50D is a great camera. I upgraded to the Canon EOS 50D from the Canon EOS XTi. The clarity and functions are vastly superior. The only shortcoming I have with the camera is the ISO capability. Any ISO setting over ISO400 produces grain in the pictures. Out of the box and shooting in Auto, the pictures looked much clearer, color was spot on and the camera feels more comfortable in your hands, since it is a bit bigger than the XTi model.
This canon is the most amazing camera i have ever used.

Excerpt: This is the most amazing digital camera i have ever used. Anyone out there wanting a great camera should deffinately consider the canon dslr E0S. This camera has helped me take much better pictures. this camera has great quality. it is also a very durable camera i dropped it before but it was ok i do not recomend being careless with it. but i am just saying it is a very strong and durable camera. I got this camera for my photography class.
Excerpt: I bought this camera for my wife and it is everything she ever wanted. It takes fabulous pictures and the shutter speed is fast enough to capture sporting events that are crisp and clear. We have a cheapo lens and it is still an awesome camera.
50d is good but not worth the upgrade from the 40d
9 September 2012
Excerpt: The 40d was a very good jump from the 30d (much better lcd and noise). Unfortunately the 50d has worse noise characteristics than the 40d and not much in the way of upgrades. The resolution is marginally better than the 40d, but the body and lcd are not markedly better than the 40d. Also since there is no video mode the 50d is one upgrade that is worth skipping. It seems that canon makes more major upgrades every other product cycle.
Excerpt: I'm a very enthusiastic amateur, who spends weekends and vacations shooting. I've gone through about five dSLRs so far, and this Canon is, by far, my favorite. After a few various Nikons and the Canon Rebel all treated me fairly well, I was surprised by just how much I love this particular dSLR, the 50D. One of the major complaints is its weight, but honestly, any dSLR worth anything will weigh just as much.
