Excerpt: Not a bad camera but Pentax cameras were a revelation to me in their use. I was disappointed with the ergonomics and the lack of some features. Picture quality was also a letdown for the price paid. Nikon had the D90 and that's what I was looking at. Problems: No major problems beside not being competitive.
Summary: I ordered this camera, took some test shots...above ISO 400 it was just aweful. I sent it in to Canon got it back (they said everything checked out) fired a few more test shots and still aweful. Under ISO 400 I have no complaints pictures were great! In my opinion it just isn't versatile enough for the price when it comes to the ISO. My XSi shoots at ISO 800 much better than the 50D :( Anyway rave reviews to Amazon!
Summary: Great camera but the kit lens is cheap and takes very soft pictures. Your better off buying the body only and getting the L- lens series. But thats if your into spending thousands of dollars for camera that is going to be obsolete next year. Get the Pentax K20d body and a great Pentax star lens for half the price.. You'll be happy..
Summary: I purchased the Canon 50D in December. It was to replace my Canon 20D which was plagued with problems from the onset. The vast majority of the problems seemed to be electrical. I sent it back repeatedly, but Canon never fully fixed the problem. I'd get it back, load it up and within a shot or two...I'd be right back in ERROR message mode. My husband and I decided to upgrade to the Canon 50D for Christmas.
Summary: For a long time Canon user, this camera turned out to be an extreme disappointment. Over the years I trained myself (and suspect many other folks did) to not sallivate over Nikon bodies, instead concentrating on what matters - the sensor, quality lens lineup, and affordability that Canon has always offered in its semi-pro DSLRs. With 50D, all that is gone. 1.
Summary: Just a word of caution for Adobe LightRoom 1.x users and possibly PhotoShop CS3 (and prior) users. Adobe is apparently playing a negative role in Canon's updated and changing RAW formats, in that if you buy the 50D, thus far, Adobe is NOT releasing a RAW update to Lightroom 1.x, and you MUST upgrade to Lightrom 2.1 with an update to gain 50D RAW capabilities.
Summary: I bought this as a replacement/upgrade for an EOS 400D. I was immediately disappointed with the picture quality, and sent it back to Amazon within a matter of days. Most of the pictures were soft to the point of being blurry. The picture quality was worse than my older consumer level DSLR. Pictures in low light conditions were particularly bad. The only decent shots I took were from a tripod.
Summary: bonjour, Aprés 3 jours l'appareil est parti chez Canon en réparation, car des particules grasses sont collées sur le capteur pas la faute de amazon mais pour un appareil comme l'EOS 50D ce n'est pas normal!!!
