Summary: I have been shopping for a Mark 3 and found this one on ebay. The pricing was more than fair and the camera looked and operated like brand new. I shoot commercial, school, and action and this camera covers it all. It is quiet, the full size sensor delivers crisp hi-res photos, and the features are easy to understand and use. I highly recommend this camera to anyone, pro or just getting started. I love the camera and Canon for sure.
Summary: I bought this camera body to compliment the 1d Mk III I had purchased earlier through eBay. Both work flawlessly and allow nearly anyone to capture great images, in nearly any situation. While a handful, it's weight seems to make balance better when coupled with some of the heftier L series zoom lenses. The camera is built tough, and if you shoot RAW to take advantage of the amazing 21.1 MP full frame sensor you capture amazing images.
Summary: Having Canon cameras for many years plus an assortment of lens and flash it was only natural and financially wise to continue with the brand loyalty. I found many of the features of EOS 1 Ds Mark lll similar to my EOS 3 film camera. This is my first digital camera and I would have to say of all the cameras I have owned that I have been the least enthusiastic about this camera. Coming into the digital age almost 30 yrs late no doubt explains my lack of enthusiasm.
Summary: Fantastic camera at a great price. The used camera arrived in near new condition. The camera is pro grade - with dual card slots, dual controls, full size sensor and 21 MP. These features allow me to take fantastic portraits of friends and family and spectacular panoramas of the mountain ridge at sunset. Canon has replaced this model but at a price atleast twice the price of this used camera.
Excerpt: Having owned all the 1Ds and D bodies (still own the 1Ds2 and 3), I was disappointed that it was not significantly better than the Mk2. As far as my 2 cameras are concerned, the Mk2 has much, much less noise in the shadow areas. I only shoot at 100 ISO. If the Mk2 had microfocus adjustment I would (maybe) sell the Mk3.
Summary: Canon 1 Ds III is definitely worth the money. I have other EOS series like 5Dii, 1D4, and also a crop 7D. The 1Dsiii is definitely a all PRO camera. Snap on any L Series prime lens on this body, you will take amazing photos.
Best body for all around shooting. Nothing it can't do!

Summary: The 1DS Mk III is perfect for wildlife, landscape or anything else. It has excellent tracking ability for BIF and quickly locks on target for high percentage keeper rates. I also shoot the 1D Mk III, and use it primarily for fast moving action. The 1DS delivers more lush color and contrast, and is excellent for those images that require severe cropping. On the wide angle side, I love the depth with my 17-40L with colors more vivid than you can imagine.
Summary: Sony SLR: In-body image stabilization that works well (around 2 stop advantage) Olympus SLR: In-body image stabilization that works well (around 4 stop advantage) No In-body image stabilization like Sony and Olympus No Tilt & Swivel LCD No 1080p HD video recording 60 fps
Summary: The Canon 1DS Mark III is the greatest camera. Easy enough to use and has the most beautiful sounding shutter when you take a picture. I definitely recommend this camera to anyone who wants to have high quality photos.
Summary: The ultimate purpose for a camera is to take photos. No camera except perhaps the Canon 5D II or a comparable Nikon or Sony DSLR will take better photos in more situations than the 1Ds III. No other kind of camera will do as much as well. Some, such as medium format cameras costing many times more, will take slightly better photos in a studio and for some landscape or still subject shots but canot be used to shoot anything that moves or needs very wide or strong...
