Canon 1D X Hands-On

27 October 2011
  • Excerpt: I spent a few hours at the Canon EOS & PIXMA event this evening.  The core of the event was promoting the new PIXMA PRO-1 and the fact that it was built in conjunction with the EOS camera system – to take full advantage of what these cameras are capable of.  Seeing several of the large prints from the PIXMA PRO-1, it’s clear that this new printer delivers on the quality.

Ken Rockwell

  • Summary: AF is about as fast, however the 1D X adds color and motion to its AF-area tracking ability, which is a huge help in every live-action shooting situation, be it snapping my kids or shooting the Olympics.

DP Review
23 May 2007
  • Conclusion: * At the time of publication of this review ** According to Canon The EOS-1D is a remarkably important and prestigious camera for Canon. In all of the Company's history only a very few select cameras have worn the '1' label, each has been at the pinnacle of the current state of technology and (of course) it is a name only given to the best Canon have.
  • Pros: Excellent resolution for its pixel count, not far behind Nikon's D1X, Excellent colour, selection of colour matrices are useful for different situations, Based on the superb EOS-1V, Controls intuitive for EOS-1V and EOS-D2000 / D6000 users, Large sensor (equates to just a 1.3x focal length multiplier / field of view crop), Large clear viewfinder with 98% field of view and a very low blackout time (87 ms**), Low noise, even at high sensitivities, Excellent and supremel...
  • Cons: Banding at high ISO's (ISO 800 - 1600 when shooting in low to medium light), For pushed images the noise pattern is different on the left and right side of the image, Moiré occasionally visible, No magnify in playback (no excuse), JPEG/TIFF files are not tagged with selected colour matrix (thus color space), Slow RAW conversion if the image has been rotated, Menu system can at first be frustrating, There should be a custom function to allow settings to be changed with...

The Digital Journalist
31 March 2003
  • Excerpt: A while back, PF Bentley wrote in these pages about the new Canon EOS1-D camera. His point was that for his needs, he would wait for a newer body with a larger chip that would give him the larger file sizes he feels magazines need. However, for a newspaper photographer that does as much sports as I do, the 1D is a major leap in quality and usability from the digital choices around before it.

Kipróbáltuk: Canon EOS-1D Mark II

6 July 2007
  • Summary: A 2001. év vége felé megjelent Canon EOS-1D második változatát idén januárban jelentette be a Canon. Az új professzionális digitális váz legfőbb jellemzői közé tartozik a 8 Mpixeles felbontás, az 1,3-szeres képkivágás szorzó, a 8,5 kép/mp-es, 40 képig tartó sorozat mód, a 45 választható fókuszpont, és a mindenre kiterjedő személyre szabhatóság, valamint az integrált portré markolat.
  • Pros: nagy felbontás, igen nagy sebesség, jó sorozat-képesség, nagy puffer memória, közepes képkivágás-faktor (1,3x), integrált portré markolat, személyre szabható tulajdonságok, kiváló képminőség, igen nagy lefedettségű kereső, cserélhető mattüveg a keresőben, gyors tükörmozgatás, dupla státusz LCD, igen alacsony képzaj, dupla memóriakártyás megoldás (tükrözés támogatása), veszteségmentes, tömörített RAW formátum, részletesen beállítható JPEG-tömörítés, MicroDrive és FAT32...
  • Cons: nincs beépített vaku, kép kinagyítása lassú (2mp), teljes képnagyításkor elkent részletek, napfényben tükröződő LCD, kis energiasűrűségű NiMH akku (Li-ion könnyebb lenne), esetenként kissé bonyolult kezelés (dupla gombnyomás + vezértlőtárcsa), nincs integrált WiFi lehetőség, nincs GPS csatlakozási lehetőség
