very good but AF points are hard 2 see with primes

Pompo, Canon
9 November 2015
  • Excerpt: very fast motor drive and AF is excellent. The only horrible thing about the "intelligent viewfinder" is that the AF points are translucent and shooting in continuos servo AF the pare practically invisible and VERY hard to see. I missed MANY shots because of this.

  • Excerpt: I use the 1DX for weddings as a replacement for my 5DII. Pros: The AF is responsive and fast in good light, and AI Servo tracks relentlessly. I can even use the 85/1.2 lens to track slow moving people, like the bride coming down the aisle. 12 fps is blazing fast.

1DX is Good, not Perfect

S. Meyer, Amazon
21 March 2008
  • Summary: This is a summary of my experience with the Canon 1DX. Skip to the bottom of this review if you want final impressions of the camera after the honeymoon period. My previous camera was the 5DII, mainly for weddings and portraits. I look for low light performance.

AI Servo focus issue in low light

Don E. Beeler, Amazon
21 March 2008
  • Summary: I shoot sports, mostly football. I own the 1Dx and the 1D mark IV. I am shooting at ISO 4000, 3.2f, speed 500 with a 70-200 2.8 L IS II lens. I have shot about 30,000 pictures with the 1Dx since I got it in July.

Impressive, but unreliable

Anonymous, Canon
5 August 2014
  • Conclusion: The good: it's clear it's the best camera Canon has when it comes to image quality, low light, autofocus...you name it. It's a technological marvel. The bad: Every six months this camera seems to develop a fault that requires a return for repairs.
  • Cons: Poor build quality, Unreliable

1DX - great in good light... which is a shame...

Sycotek, Canon
21 August 2012
  • Conclusion: Absolutely outstanding camera in terms of IQ, AF and overall speed - it's weakness however is it's inability to focus in low-light using Ai Servo. Be warned: if you are having trouble locking onto subjects in low light (iso 12K f4 1/50th territory) use any fps between 1 and 10 and You will be fine,...
