This was a waste of money

Summary: This was a waste of money, because the only thing good is the camera. The bundle is a bit ridiculous and overrated. I would highly recommend just getting the camera. The lenses aren't even Cannon, which is deceiving and shouldn't be allowed as it is not mentioned in the item description. I've had to buy additional lenses for it.
Summary: Purchased this camera and three months after warranty it is completely useless. To make matters worse there was nowhere near a positive response from Canon. My first Canon, my last. Please, save your money.
Excerpt: I bought this camera, along with the Canon 40mm f/2.8 Pancake lens, for my wife's birthday. It seemed like a great little package, however we could not get a sharp image, regardless of the settings. I tried the lens on one of my Canon 5D Mark II's and it was fine, so it had to be the camera. Returned it for refund.
Summary: The tripod was broken on arrival. The camera mount would come off whenever i try to raise it. The wireless shutter control could not be detected by the camera. The memory card lost a lot of our photos while transferring. Overall the camera works great but other things shipped with it are of low quality.
Conclusion: Purchased the SL1 for my wife. The 18-55mm IS STM kit lens that comes with the camera works very well. However, I tried to use an older EF-S lens that is "not" STM and the camera would not focus when set to AF. Essentially the camera would try to focus "unsuccessfully" to the point that the shutter wouldn't respond. If you are new to Canon and are building your library of lenses this is a nice APS-C sensor camera.
