Summary: I bought this camera a few years ago for my high school class, we were moving from film and the darkroom and into the digital realm. My P&S wasn't cutting it so this was the next step. I have been happy with my results for quite some time, the quality, the clarity, everything. I love having the ability to use EF and EF-S lenses, I recently added the 24-105 L lens and have had stunning results.
Summary: The camera is very nice. I do wish it came with a video recorder and medium size lens as well. The camera constantly says "BUSY" when I try to take a picture. It may be something I am doing wrong, but with other cameras I've never had this problem.
Summary: My husband bought this camera (body only) to use for deep space Astrophotography. The camera is very easy to use - even those without experience with a DSLR camera (those like my husband) should easily be able to figure out how to use it and be able to take great photographs straight out of the box.
Excerpt: I've used this camera for 2 years and have taken it in all types of conditions (mildly humid/wet/rain) to hot and dry places, dusty and it never had a problem. It has been a very capable and trusty camera for most of the situations I've used it in. Having performance ranging from decent to very good in abundent light I recommend this camera for portraits, landscape, slow sport photography, animal, documentary, timelapse and travel.
Pros: - Image quality - Price - weight, it is a lot lighter than my old Canon AV-1
Cons: The only issue we have had(I purchased this for my wife) is that we can't figure out how to prevent the flash from popping up in low light situations where we do not want the flash(i.e moon shots over the ocean)
Summary: I have a Cannon AE1 and needed a second film camera and decided to get this one because it was also a Canon and the price was decent. Once I got it I realized the buttons and the settings were different which I was worried about but it was not difficult to figure out how to use it. I have learned to like this one better than my AE1 which I LOVE.
Excerpt: I have been pleasantly surprised with this camera. My husband insisted on buying it for me for Christmas, and we got a sweet deal on it. I'm a little bit camera-illiterate, but this has been relatively easy to use. Even for those less camera-savvy than me, the auto function and other automatic functions take great pictures.
Excerpt: Unless you are a professional and depend on a camera and picture quality for your livelihood, this is all the camera you will ever need. It has settings and features that are very friendly to beginner, yet has more advanced features that more experienced users, with the right knowledge, can fully utilize. I have photographer friends who’ve shown me side by side photos taken by the Canon Rebel and much more expensive cameras and I honestly couldn’t tell the difference. ...
