Excerpt: I bought this camera for times when I didn't want to carry around my heavier Canon digital SLR. It's a great camera that allows you to shoot nice pictures in Auto mode or have some fun and be a little more creative in other modes. I really like the image stabilization feature -- I used it to great effect when I was shooting pictures at a school musical. I was able to turn off the flash and still take some really great pics without a tripod. I've used the manual mode...
Excerpt: The Canon Power SD 990 IS (Image Stabilizer) (Digitial ELPH) is "too easy" to operate. This sleek, brushed aluminium, chrome, and lightweight camera operates with a lithium battery so you can keep a charge for a longer period of time. If you are not real "camera savvy" place your camera on "Auto" and let it make all the decisions for you.
Summary: I am very fond of Canon products, however I think there is something missing with this camera, you can take great shots with daylight but unfortunately you have to be very patient when waiting the camera to autofocus at night. IA mode is also quite dumb when selecting the subject to focus. By the way, its last generation processor could be better. Recording movies is great. I don't know why it has to be *.MOV but it's not a big deal after all.
Summary: I bought this camera new shortly after canon released it. I paid only $399.00 for it along with all the trimmings from Canon's website. This camera is no longer available. How can one justify asking such a ridiculous price? I love the camera, but please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Summary: The SD 990 is an amazing piece of work. It does everything from the most simple to the complex techniques in photography. I bought it for my girlfriend at first and after a few months of toying with it, i purchased my own. I couldn't be more happier. It is an amazing camera! The feel is great, the interface is user friendly, and most of all it makes any amateur take professional photos. the photos i get from this camera is amazing. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
this is a great camera right before you jump it to professional

Summary: I love this camera.. the picture quality is great especially if you have good outdoor lighting.. the use is super easy as i am not really big on adjusting camera settings .. i always have it on auto and it does a great job at that.. the size of it is really nice.. but mostly the way it is made is so nice looking.. it is not not cheaply made, like a lot of other brands are doing..
Summary: My brother bought this camera and the pictures were so great, I had to get one for myself. I love it and have taken some great pictures in the Smoky Mountains with the fall colors. Shipment was fast and a great price.
Summary: This camera would be great if you could take a picture of someone without the dreaded demon eye or red eye. It also does very poorly in low light. Outside it does a great job with vivid pictures that are quite impressive. If only it would work better in low light and indoors.
Summary: Don't do it! Just don't! Frequently, within moments of installing the freshly charged battery, I get a message telling me to change the battery pack. What?!? Then at other times it would act fine, so I'd think this camera was okay after all. Then it would happen again--I could never tell when--and I'd lose pictures because of this ridiculous battery! I bought a second battery as a back up, hoping against hope that this camera was salvageable. No difference!
