Canon Ixus 900Ti

Tech2

  • Excerpt: The IXUS series by Canon are some really good cameras, but it's purely hit or miss. For instance, the Ixus i7 was a true performer, although the Digital IXUS 60 was really low on performance. The 900Ti, in the current review, features excellent build quality and is easy enough to carry wherever you want to go, even for treks. The performance, however, disappointed us quite a bit.

  • Excerpt: It's ten years since the first camera was launched in the Canon IXUS range. A lot has changed since 1996 and manufacturers are now stuffing 10MP sensors into compacts and DSLRs alike. But Canon hasn't just upped the resolution stakes; this model also showcases its new DIGIC III image processor with Advanced Noise Reduction and Face Detection technology.

  • Conclusion: The Canon IXUS 900 Ti is a high quality digital camera. It also has a high price! Picture quality and build quality are impressive and this is also a very stylish camera. Although I am not a big fan of ten megapixel, consumer digital cameras purely for printing purposes Canon have added worthwhile features with the Digital Tele-Converter and safety zoom.
  • Pros: Build quality, Picture quality, Advanced movie features, Design and style, Viewfinder
  • Cons: It's not cheap!, Red eye, Small memory card supplied

  • Summary: While the IXUS 900 Ti is a fairly good compact camera, it suffers from some fringing and noise issues that mean it isn't quite on par with some of Canon's other units.
  • Pros: Sharp pictures, Great colour, Attractive and sturdy design
  • Cons: Very visible fringing, Noise issues, Slow burst mode

  • Summary: The IXUS 900Ti certainly offers a refined overall performance and will prove more than satisfactory in normal domestic use for capturing images like family portraits. However, the fact that it has a 10MP CCD and broad ISO range doesn't mean that it will produce high-quality images.
