A refreshing change here, as the P200 is an improvement to the model it replaces, the P150, without wholesale change for change's sake. The body has been mildly smoothed over but retains the distinctive shape and the aluminium case and metal buttons lend a solid, professional air. Read more
The Ixus 50 feels natural to hold and framing shots is simple thanks to an optical viewfinder and an LCD that’s bright enough for use in direct sunlight. Pictures showed nicely natural colours and virtually noise-free skies with plenty of detail and accurate metering. This is a great choice for quality and portability. Read more
Aside from My Colours and QuickBright, the IXUS 50 is almost identical to Canon's IXUS 40, which we reviewed in November 2004 (http://www.pocket-lint.co.uk/review.php?reviewId=696). The IXUS 50 adds a megapixel, but this will make no difference to standard, 6 x 4 prints. However at A3 it will give noticeably better quality. We checked prices on the two models for this review. The Canon Ixus 50 is a BRILLIANT camera! It has 5MP, which in reality is all you need (unless you're a professional photographer that needs to blow them up to unproportionate sizes.) It is so small you can place it into your pocket with ease and it doesn't bulk out too much; slightly more that what my wallet does (which always has nothing in it).
