Excerpt: I purchased this camera several years ago, and I must say even with the newer models that ahve come out I think it is still one of the best. The camera by canon always takes fantastic pictures and rarely takes a picture I feel like I need to delete. The expandable memory makes it so I can take hundreds of pictures before I have to switch out memory or download pictures onto my computer.
Horribly out of date, yet still used as a main camera!

Summary: Obviously a very old compact. However, this camera is beautifully made and has an excellent lens as well as a larger than normal sensor. The pics are fantastic. Being only 4mp will put some off who think their pics will one day be blown up to house-wall size. The camera feel substantial, almost like expensive jewellery. Their were endless problems within the design which means that many have been thrown away.
Replacement for a broken camera; have custom dive case for it.

Summary: I bought the S400 because I had one (actually 2) that broke and I have the custom underwater enclosure for it. There are clearly better digital cameras available, but now I can record scuba experiences again without investing hundreds of dollars in a new enclosure.
Summary: I like this camera because it takes fine pictures and does what I expect in a job situation.I need this camera to make accurate time/date stamped pictures required for the type work I repairing houses. I like it because it is small compact and reasonably easy to use.It was also cost effective for a job site where tools are always around.
Summary: i own a CANON and have not been disappointed with my photos. I purchased this product for my son and new daughter to have for their new live together. Looking forward to many great photos to come.
Summary: July 13, 2006: I used this camera happily for 2 years before getting the memory card error. Here are some more details about how to remove the internal battery: You must remove NINE screws in order to get to it. Four screws by the loop (then the plate comes off, remember which side is up); One screw by the front of the tripod hole, plus the Two screws next to it along the front of the camera; and the Two screws on the side by the A/V Out rubber cover.
