AGFA CL18 Digital Camera hmmmn...

  • Excerpt: "I aquired this camera for free upon purchasing a computer. Im not sure if I would have bought it at the time and I certainly would nt buy it now. For this camera to work the light must be good and the camera must be held almost impossibly still. Also once the pictures have been taken the lack of an LCD screen means that you can not view them until you upload them onto your computer. This is really annoying as it means you can not trust the camera ...

  • Excerpt: "The Agfa CL18 is a small, lightweigh and low cost camera. I bought my CL18 about a year ago at a cost of aprox 50 pounds. The camera came with a small carry case, wrist strap, USB cable, manual and a camera stand. The stand is pretty usefull if you want to use your camera as a web cam. When used as a web cam the pictures are of fairly good quality, but for photographs the CL18 leaves a lot to be desired. On the day I bought the camera I went ...
  • Pros: Light weight small and compact .
  • Cons: Low quality pictures unless lighting is perfect .

  • Excerpt: "Well this is my fourth opinion so far and the three previous ops have been negative, so guess what? i am not going to break the trend here. I got this camera some time ago now, probably 3 years ago actually. I was looking at expensive cameras as well as cheap cameras before eventually getting fed up and just choosing the cheap version as i thought the more expensive cameras just offered more un-needed features. This was my first mistake, the camera's ...

  • Excerpt: "...get to work from the agfa website is the one in dutch. Agfa may have updated their site with new UK XP drivers now - but I should check this before buying. I emailed agfa about the camera but recieved no response - so I am doubtful that they have high level of customer service. I am very pleased with the camera overall - you get alot for your £50 worth - a webcam alone costs approx £30! The pictures are ideal for emailing to friends and putting ...

  • Excerpt: Having used other cameras in this price package, this has to be the best I've come across and used. Its small and has a nice design, always a bonus. Most photography is great, Outdoor pictures always work well, but do get a damaged if the object is in front of the sun. Indoor pictures and objects about 1-2metres away from the camera as definately the best, dark conditions dont always bring out the best in the camera, sometimes putting lines across the picture, but...

  • Excerpt: My CL18 was bought on a whim after I received £50 of Jessops vouchers for my birthday. I'd always wanted a camera which would allow me to add small pictures to web pages quickly and easily, and this looked just the job. The camera is cute (mine has a translucent purple body) and sits comfortably in the hand. Four tiny buttons and a small LCD in the back of the body control the limited functions (namely the flash and self-timer, and the delete facility).
  • Cons: "Flash is reluctant"

  • Excerpt: This little camera will take 640 x 480 images and is ready for video conferencing. List price is $149 and can be found as low as $89 if you shop around. The resolution is fixed at 640 x 480 pixels, there are two different compression settings to choose from high and standard image quality. You can take 32 pictures on the standard quality or 16 images using the high quality setting with the built-in 2Mb of memory in JPEG compression.

good cheapie for pics for web use

  • Excerpt: "As I run a couple of web sites - one for my local cricket club and the other for the new village hall, I decided that a cheapish digital camera would save me heaps of time and effort. I spent a couple of months on research - magazines, the web asking peoples opinion (before I joined Ciao!). Bought my CL18 for £80 on eBay. first impressions were excellent, small and light enough to fit in a shirt pocket. The manual is pretty ordinary, but fortunately ...

  • Excerpt: "This camera looks like it's designed to sell at £30. At £50 it might be ok. I paid £100 so here goes.. It has excellent design - simple to use & effective. It's not sophisticated but the colour correction is perfect for snap shooting, the batteries seem to last forever; it's very light & compact - ideal to take around with you for off the cuff shooting. It comes with pretty good software & downloads are quick & effiecient - though you must have a ...

Cheap Pub Cred

  • Excerpt: "The CL18 is Agfa's first digital camera that retails for less than £100. But although it is relatively cheap it boasts a number of features common to the more expensive models. The first thing that strikes you about this camera is its size. It is extremely compact and light, and comes in a choice of either a silver or blueberry casing. The control buttons are all located on the back, with a small display showing battery power, resolution and flash ...
