Absolute Beginner

BEW, Yamaha
5 April 2014
  • Summary: As an absolute beginner, I find this impressive keyboard difficult; BUT I am not giving up. I have bought books that were created for children and a computer program called "Music Ace 2" which is a fun way to learn. I could not find anything at the Yamaha sites for beginners which disappointed me! I bought this keyboard instead of a beginner keyboard because I liked the sounds it produces. I plan to use it to keep my mind active.

For the price, this is a good keyboard.

  • Summary: The right speaker has a nasty rattle in it. However, when the output is used to an external amplifier or speaker system, the rattle is not a problem.
  • Pros: Easy to use
  • Cons: Internal speaker quality

Good but

bigdaddy, Yamaha
17 March 2013
  • Summary: Bought it as a new beginner. The key board is nice and I like the teaching software but it only has 30 songs and most of the songs to learn are mostly beyond beginners mode that I feel daunted.
  • Pros: Portable, Realistic Sound, Responsive / Good Action
  • Cons: Difficult to Use, Poor Instructions

Nice Instrument, but not Mac-Friendly

lyzak, B&H Photo
4 October 2010
  • Excerpt: I'm a hobbyist who does home recording. I'm impressed with its capabilities, sound, and the feel and size of its keys. I would recommend this if you're not using Mac. I'm disappointed it's not at all Mac user friendly.
  • Pros: Realistic Sound, Responsive / Good Action, Touch Sensitive Keys
