  • Excerpt: Ordering only one present for your son's 18th birthday can stress anyone out but I should have never worried.Everything arrived on time and he was grateful for a wonderful gift. Only feedback from my son was the box had a huge picture so it was not a surprise. Either way you made it a wonderful day!

GREAT FOR STARTING TO LEARN KEYBOARD

Bruce of Westchester, B&H Photo

  • Excerpt: First - this review is written by an absolute novice. I'm just learning keyboard and my instructor suggested I buy a keyboard with: - full size keys- decently polyphonic- at least 76 keys- volume variable with pressure on key playedThe YPG 235 meets all of these and more. I have connected the keyboard through a USB to my IMAC and also use eMedia Music Piano and Keyboard Method v3 for instruction. What a great combination.
  • Pros: Easy to Use, Portable, Pre-programmed music, Realistic Sound, Touch Sensitive Keys

  • Excerpt: I purchased this keyboard on the Saturday night before Christmas and received it the following Tuesday. The speed with which it was shipped and delivered was phenomenal--the product itself, even more so. A lot of reviews on this particular model may claim that this keyboard is great for the price; It's great in general! After using it daily for the past two weeks, multiple hours each day, I can say I'm thoroughly pleased.

  • Excerpt: I am using this YPG-235 on a Mac. Taking piano lessons online with no usb midi issues. using it with garageband also with No issues. best for the price by far. For what BH charges for this keyboard including freight cannot be beat anywhere else, and they throw in a lesson CD to boot.

Keys Over-touch-sensitive

  • Excerpt: I found the volume varied too much depending how hard the keys were pressed. Don't know if there's some way to control the touch sensitivity.

Excellent in Every Way

  • Excerpt: The Yamaha YPG-235 is perfect for musicians of every level. It is a wonderful instrument to learn on, and is light enough for professionals to transport to gigs. The sound and feel of the instrument are both very good. In addition, the drum beats are a great option that enhance and/or can be a nice alternative for a metronome.

Absolute Beginner

BEW, Yamaha
5 April 2014
  • Summary: As an absolute beginner, I find this impressive keyboard difficult; BUT I am not giving up. I have bought books that were created for children and a computer program called "Music Ace 2" which is a fun way to learn. I could not find anything at the Yamaha sites for beginners which disappointed me! I bought this keyboard instead of a beginner keyboard because I liked the sounds it produces. I plan to use it to keep my mind active.

  • Excerpt: This keyboard is nice balance of features, great sound and price, and it's a lot of fun to play. There are plenty of voices to get just the sound you want and the auto accompaniment features have a great range of styles from a simple arpeggio to a full band.
