Novation UltraNova

elesdee, amazon.com
4 December 2011
  • Summary: There is certainly something to be said about this synth, especially if you are into sound design/editing. Very affordable sound design tool with plenty of effects and modulation capabilities. In my opinion, in the right hands, this synth is straight-plague-type material as in SICK! Of course you could go spend a grand or more and get a better synth but for the price of this bad boy, it has massive power, especially when creating your own patches.

great little synth

Robson, amazon.com

  • Summary: I was looking actually for novation 37 keys midi controllers but they don't do them anymore and I've stumbled on this very expressive VA instrument. I have to say I am very impressed with build quality and the sounds possibilities on this baby. When I started to play i could't stop and didn't even have to look into manual.

"The purple synth that could."

By a customer from gmail.com, zzounds.com
29 August 2011
  • Excerpt: Nice quality to the sound, lush pads, nice digital basses. Not quite as deep as an analog synth, but then again this is digital so even though it's virtual analog don't expect anything near what an analog synth can do. That said, it is a great digital synth with a nice digital sound, not quite as cool sounding as a virus though if you want a comparison to another popular VA.

"First Virtual Analog Keyboard, the Ultranova featuring 80's Dark Wave Tones, Very Attractive, But... (I do really like this ev"

  • Excerpt: This is my first virtual analog synth, so I don't have a lot to compare it to, but I like the sound. The sound response is nice with my playing, and it is pretty compatible with my musical style. The sounds on the keys are sort of 80's wave table-like, and are dirtier and less tuneful or full than I expected, but the tones are cool nonetheless.

"This is a great sounding unique VA, packed with features, powerful synthesizer, great low end, and easy to use interface, a qual"

  • Excerpt: Ultranova sounds fantastic. Of course that's subjective, but I like it. It has a great low end and effects with many options. I can add all kinds of panning to my sounds with UN. I can get beautiful pads, thick basses or anything else. I also own DSI Tetra and MicroKorg. Obviously DSI Tetra is phatter than UN, but UN holds its own and actually those two make a great combination. Tetra for the analog and UN for the digital.

"A Great Product !"

By a customer from rocketmail.com, zzounds.com
17 July 2011
  • Excerpt: The sound is great.. I mean its got some of the best sound. The pads are erie and wonderful.. Sounds for modern synth tech/dance/dub set , that kind of thing.., are all wonderful... It has a great sound.. The Arp section alone is worth atleast 2/3rds the cost of the machine... and when using the editor, things get deep and creative.. the sounds come to life in a more rich experience..

"A very good synth to have, easy integration with DAW's"

mrjason, Audiofanzine
5 March 2013
  • Excerpt: One great feature with this board is that you can use it as a VST and record MIDI data and audio at the same time. It is very easy to set it up in your DAW as an AU channel or a MIDI input channel. This synth is very affordable and has great features; it is easy to use and work with and has never let me down. Have been using it for years and it...

Best In Class

R. Wyatt, amazon.co.uk
22 May 2011
  • Summary: Choosing a synth is never easy. The mafia that run the musical instrument business, manufacturers and retailers both see to it that it is as confusing as possible. They also make sure that no one instrument has it all - that way they can sell you two or three that almost do the same thing. Like mugs we go out and buy more. The current trend is to revamp kit that was around a few years ago and make it do less but do it much better than it did in its original form.
