Summary: UPDATE: A few weeks in and still LOVE the keyboard, faders, and knobs. Still liking Automap as I use it more. The controller is deserving of some complaints now that the new gear feeling is passing. First, one of the touch sensitive rotary knobs is constantly triggering like it has been touched even when I don't touch it.
Novation 49SL MkII may be good... but Automap support & soft sux.

Summary: I bought the Novation due to all the reviews I have read, however I did not realize that they did not support my OSX 10.4.11 very well first installation it ran fine after that it is still a disaster too much messing around. It was suppose to make my life easier but it did not. My Mac runs all my Adobe CS4, and other Mac software smooth do not need to upgrade lots of memory. Logic Pro also runs great but not Automap.
Summary: After trying the Akai MPK49 and Axiom Pro I settled on this controller as it has a lovely high quality synth keyboard feel and is simple to set up and use. The Novation software is great and I can use this seamlessly with Cakewalk and Pro Tools. I have heard some complaints about the software but for me it installed easily and just plain works. I had a few questions initially and Novation replied to my e mails and a phone call quickly and were very helpful.
Summary: I found it strange and unfair that this item didn't have a single review despite being bought so often. So I'm going to think that you guys are just being plain lazy :D. On to business, this midi controller is awesome in many ways. Let's start with how its built. I've heard some people say it is cheaply built, but I found it perfect and I love the layout of the controllers.
Summary: This Novation range is definately at the top when it comes to affordable midi controllers. Plug in and play and your software is automatically assigned to the keyboard. This saves you time on programming and that is its winning strength. The only problem is the build quality. With this range of controllers, you are paying for the Automap fuctionality, not build quality. The keyboard generally feels plastic, light and cheap.
Summary: HARDWARE Het keyboard zelf is, naar mijn mening, zeer goed.
