Summary: Besides DJing I do music production (commercial ala "Guetta" and "Swedish House Mafia"), now with Reason 6! Honestly, I did not really "need" it a sampler, but for this price point I just wanted to give it a try to "play around"... and it turned out to be - EASY I hate reading manuals, but 1) this device is very easy structured 2) it has a very thin yet descriptive manual 3) there are plenty of Youtube videos for getting up to speed... - POWERFUL 1.
Summary: This is my first hardware sampler and so I am still learning the ropes. Right now I just cut up samples on my laptop and load them on this thing via the software. I just wanted something to trigger samples live - this works perfect for that. I was hoping there would be a usable workstation element to it as well, but it falls short there (at least for how I put together tracks). For what I paid for this unit, though, I have no complaints.
Excerpt: It's pretty weird of Korg to create such a device in these times when everything is done with a computer. In the end, this is what anyone may be wondering with this Microsampler ─ the umpteenth version of the very lucrative Micro series of the Japanese brand.
Excerpt: This is a piece of hardware i am glad to add to my studio setup. There are many reviews out there that don't explain this instrument with much detail or knowledge, i was scared to purchase this. After i did purchase it and played around with it i will never regret getting this. To me it feels like a instrument that will be a legendary one. The reason i think this is so great is it really is like a swiss army knife of samplers.
Excerpt: ok ok UTILIZATION SOUNDS OVERALL OPINION ok I find the concept interesting, we regret the internal memory a bit short, besides that here is a very small sample pleasant to use, very simple and intuitive enough to call or put an idea into a flat time at all, nice portability with batteries that last about 3hrs 30 in heavy use, a nice face and a lightness hallucinatory effects are good quality.
This curate's egg - on the whole - makes a decent omelette

Summary: This is truly is the Swiss army knife of sampling. Firstly it does sound VERY good in use - so full marks are awarded for that. It has plenty of on-board functions that are generally well executed - but these sometimes prove limited in their functionality. Given the price point and its place in their range I am sure KORG expect you to augment this with their other hardware. As an example - effects are derived from the Kaoss pad and sound great.
