Summary: I have now witnessed our third Aluratek digital frame crap out with the exact same issue. Without warning, all the images become covered in a red hue and some pixalated. Each time, I have written the company and had to push hard to get it replaced. Each time they sent me an upgraded model, so i had held out hope they had fixed this issue. I was wrong. I received a high quality frame as a gift, so I am not even going to fight this company for a new one.
Will not start a video automatically, crapped out in 6 months
21 May 2012
Summary: We purchased this unit because it has a timer to start and stop automatically, and it plays video clips. What wasn't mentioned is the fact that it will start up and show still pictures automatically, but not videos--you have to manually start the video with the remote. We had good service from the unit for about 6 months (well out of warranty) and then the image appeared "scrambled" on the screen.
Great size and picture quality, but not very user friendly

Summary: I got this for my mom and even I couldn't figure out how this thing worked. The remote it comes with is useless and it works only on certain occasions. Overall, I would not recommend this product as it us not at all user friendly.
Summary: Best value 12" I have seen. I returned 2 other brands and kept this one. Better picture. Good viewing from all angles. Seems to have a lot of features but very poor manual tells you about none of them so I don't know what I am missing. Their web site is even worse. Remote is about as weak as the manual - sometimes some buttons just don't work, sometimes they do. Setup is a trial and error effort.
Summary: Once everything is setup, the display is great. The remote that came with the unit barely worked at all and I found it was much easier to simply use the controls on the unit itself. All in all, I'd say it is well worth the money for someone who can program a dvd player. If you're buying it for someone who is less comfortable with setup screens, you might want to look for something a little more user friendly.
