List All 43 PricesThe Canon EOS 40D is a semi professional 10.1 megapixel digital single lens reflex camera that was released late august of 2007. It uses DIG!C III image processor which includes live preview together manual focusing that helps amateur photographers enjoy the camera more. 40D can also be connected to a computer via USB for a more live view mode. The battery door and storage compartment are well protected from weather and dust to avoid any damage.
At 740 grams (body only) the 40D features a Mode dial that which is used to select the mode for shooting. It is divided into two zones: Creative and Basic zone. In the creative zone, there are options that can help the user to adjust the aperture and shutter speed. The Basic zone on the hand, have options that are already programmed for specific shooting. EOS 40D has a 3.0 inch LCD screen for more detailed view of the image. It has a Self-Cleaning sensor that ensures that the camera is in tip top shape.
The new Canon EOS40D redefines photography as real art. Also known as the next generation of digital SLR photography, this highly-anticipated Canon EOS40D features proofs of advance technology in the form of its new features like Live View shooting, advanced DIGIC III image processor, an advance autofocus sensor, a 3" LCD and a 6.5 fps continuous shooting capability. According to the CNET review, Canon added dust- and weatherproofing on the CF slot, the buttons, and all connection points, and it implemented the same integrated sensor-cleaning system that’s in the Mark III series. The latter vibrates the sensor to dislodge dust during start-up and shut-down (pressing the shutter cancels cleaning during start-up), and if that doesn’t work, a Dust Delete Data option enables the camera to analyze and remember where it senses dust and algorithmically remove it from photos. There are different modes available which makes it more like a camera for pros. The Canon EOS40D is easy to learn how it functions and its modes are both automatic and manual. And also with that feature, it allows to the photographers an amazing capability to capture photographs in various conditions. It’s not considered a boring camera but a challenging one. The Canon EOS40D would come of use to people who love to be involved in digital photography. It’s also great in providing a wide range of control. With its advanced auto-focus system makes it easier in capturing moving objects a lot easier. It also features a full-time ISO in the viewfinder. Apart from its special features, it’s also known to be much more weather durable than its previous version. While some might find there’s nothing new in this camera, others seem to just ‘click’ with it. The devoted Canon fans will love this camera while others risk nothing in trying.

Canon’s EOS 40D digital single-lens reflex (DSLR) camera is the follow-up to the EOS 30D ( ) released two years ago. The 40D sits squarely in the middle of a DSLR market that spans everything from $500 entry-level models to $7,000 pro-level DSLRs. The 40D has a 10.1-megapixel sensor, up from the 30D’s 8.2 megapixels. The 40D also has the same sensor cleaning mechanism used in the EOS Digital Rebel XTi ( ) and a Digic III image processor. The 40D’s image quality... Read more
Pros: • Good 10-megapixel images • Amazing 6.5 fps burst mode • Large 3-inch LCD Cons: • Heavy • Gets noisy above 800 ISO • Live View—I still don’t get it Read more
The Canon 40D bridges entry-level SLRs with expensive, pro options. We can easily overlook its few shortcomings and focus on its excellent image quality and wide array of useful features. Read more
The EOS 40D is the perfect solution for those who dreamed of a 1D Mark III but couldn't afford it. It can also be used as an excellent secondary solution for professional photographers. It's impressive to see all the things that Canon managed to put inside this new EOS. With a price tag of less than 800€ here in Japan, the price/quality ratio is simply unbeatable! Read more
The crop sensor combined with state-of-the-art systems makes the Canon 40D the best digital SLR body for budget-conscious wildlife photographers. Adding the 6.5 frames per second capture rate makes the 40D the best digital SLR body for sports photographers who don't want to buy the Canon EOS 1D Mark III , $4050 ( review ). Within the Canon system, the 40D makes sense for people who leave the house on a specifically photographic mission and don't mind carrying the extr... Read more
I love how quick the shutter is , this is my first slr but find this slr to be very user friendly, and have been taking exceptional pictures. i still have alot to learn . i do wish i had got a 300 mm telephoto lens Read more
I shoot full frame and as the 40d being a back up camera, i'd say it is one QUICK little camera. fits nice in big hands, and shoots clear with a EF 500mm f/4L IS USM, recommend ONLY L series lenses with the 40d for top notch, noiseless pictures! Read more
One of Canon's best. The buffer and burst rate accommodate the Digic III processor beautifully. The camera I used prior to purchasing the 40d was Canon's 1D Mark II. I have not had the necessity to use my 1D but once since purchasing my 40d. With Canon's L lenses, USM in AI Servo focusing mode, there is nothing I can't do with this camera. All Canon needs to add is the availability of a full frame sensor. Read more
I have used the Canon 350D and briefly the 1D. But the 40D is really good just to pick up first time and do a job with. Its feels intuitive and I have yet to fully test its potential. I am very happy with my buy. Read more
I have used Canon Eos film cameras including 10D and went over to Nikon and back again to Canon Eos 40D recently. I enjoyed using this camera and the results speaks for itself. Pair it off with the standard zoom,ef-s 18-55mm f3.5-5.6 and decided to purchase ef-s 17-85mm f4-5.6 IS USM and never looked back. It is as good as any other semi-pro digicam available but much cheaper than Nikon D300 and Sony a700. Range of lenses is easily available OEM or third party lenses.... Read more
