Remotely Possible New for the EOS-1Ds Mark II camera is the optional Wireless File Transmitter (WFT-E1A)**. Given the enormous popularity of LAN-based image transmission systems and the demands for higher speed image distribution in the reporting fields, Canon developed this new accessory that allows photographers to transmit images from their cameras directly to a computer over a wired or wireless local area network (LAN). The WFT-E1 transmitter includes a mini anten... Read more

Best D-SLR Professional: Canon EOS-1 DS Mark II
Reviewer: Tipa11 November 2005The real sensation of the year, this EOS 1Ds Mark II has pushed digital photography to a new level, by creating image files up to 16.7 MP. In addition to the awesome file sizes, its 24x36mm CMOS sensor is a true full-frame, so keeps the focal lengths of lenses exactly equivalent to those of 35mm film SLRs. This ... Read more

Back in September 2002 at the Photokina tradeshow Canon revealed the EOS-1Ds, their first full frame (35 mm sensor) double-digit megapixel digital SLR (arguably they weren't quite the first as Kodak announced the DCS 14n just the day before, Contax has the N Digital which never really made it to market). Two years later and the new EOS-1Ds Mark II raises the megapixel count by 5.6 million pixels, which equates to a 23% increase in horizontal and vertical pixel count... Read more

Better than you could possibly expect in a camera. I am interested in absolute image quality [AIQ] and am constantly pushing the boundaries using the best possible lenses and aiming to achieve the most accurate exposure overall. Used Nikon & Kodak but when I moved to the 1ds mark 2 I found the camera that gives me the best results under all conditions. Noise is negligable and I am amazed that canon even bothered to release a mark 3 with such a marginal improvement in ... Read more

With all that is happening in the digital SLR world, it's reassuring to see some things remain static and at the time of writing this review there were no immediate signs from Canon that this is likely to change in the next six months. The Canon EOS 1Ds Mk II is a professional camera, designed to meet the needs of those that want reliable and dependable kit. Read more
