Needed the room for expansion!

  • Excerpt: Because I needed a larger backpack I naturally found myself reading B&H customer ratings of various makes and models. In the end, I bought from Tamrac simply because my prior backpack was a smaller Expedition4 series that has been one great product and just didn't feel comfortable changing brands. The resultant Tamrac Expedition 6X that I decided on gave me the increased space that I needed BUT!!!
  • Pros: Easily Accessible Equipment, Roomy

  • Excerpt: Before i purchased this backpack i had to carry my equipment in two different bags. What a pain. With this pack i was able to get my 7D with lens and battery pack,Sigma 150-500 lens, tripod and all my extra parts and pieces into this pack with room for more. The only reason i did not give it 5 stars is the bottom strap that goes around your waist can not be removed or stored out of the way.
  • Pros: Adjustable Harness, Comfortable, Easily Accessible Equipment, Roomy, Strong Construction
  • Cons: Waist strap not removeble

This bag is monster big

  • Excerpt: As soon as I have received the Tamrac 5586 Expedition 6x Backpack I realized I have made big mistake.. It is way too big. Even for a guy like me 6'5" and well over 230 lbs.. The most critical dimension for me was depth. Backpack looked as it was large piece of luggage with back pack harness. Originally I though it would be nice to put most of my lenses oriented depth wise and be able to carry Laptop as well.
  • Pros: Good design, Roomy, Strong Construction
  • Cons: Big, Heavy

This was a hit as a gift!

  • Excerpt: I purchased this bag for my brother who is a semi-pro photographer and needed a proper bag for his equipment. I have an Adventure 9, so knew Tamrac's quality was top notch. This fit all of his gear and seems to have a little room to grow. The only thing he would have liked was alternate access (side access), but it's obvious from the description that side access is not included, so skip it if you're looking for this option.
  • Pros: Roomy, Strong Construction

  • Excerpt: I'm a landscape photographer, so I use to walk a lot. This backpack is very comfortable and fits in everybody body! I'm an skinny guy and it also fits on me! The structure of the backpack is very, very solid, so I think it's very durable and it also make it compact feeling. It also has enough pockets to fill with stuff and the design is just perfect. The space inside the backpack is HUGE!

Good Sturdy Backpack

Yee, B&H Photo
7 April 2011
  • Excerpt: The backpack accommodates all my photo gears including Nikon D700, 5 lenses, SB900 flash, etc. The compartment designed for a laptop is used for miscellaneous items such as filter pouches and user manuals. The construction of the bag is very sturdy like the smaller version I had before. However, I wish there are few more straps or loops for add-on straps. Also, it is not really designed for my built, i.e., 5' 5" & 140 lbs.
  • Pros: Easily Accessible Equipment, Roomy, Strong Construction
  • Cons: Need more straps, Not made for small built, Waist straps too thin
