Summary: I wanted a bag I could quickly pack to take a few lenses and a flash with me when I was not backpacking. This bag will hold my Canon 40D with a 100-400 IS lens attached, the 70-200 f2.8 IS will fit in the compartment on on side and then another lens and a flash on the other side. It has other useful zipper compartments to hold smaller items and a compartment for a notebook computer.
Summary: I use it to haul some of my lighting gear and it just fits the ticket. Easy opening with lots of space. Nice wide shoulder strap for easy carring, plus a handle to quickly pick it up. It could be a bit wider in depth for my tastes, but overall its a great addition to my other Tamrac bags.
Pros: Comfortable, Easily Accessible Equipment, Lightweight, Strong Construction, Well Padded
Summary: I must say the bag is bigger than what I thought it would be. It can easily hold my 550D attached to 18-55mm, EF 70-200mm F4L, EF 50mm F1.8, EF 100mm F2.8L Macro and my HP 12 inches laptop. Enough pouches for filters, batteries and chargers. Its a very spacious and wonderful bag. I really cant ask for more from a 3K bag. Its more than worth the price.
Summary: I did a lot of research to find a perfect bag for my camera, and I'm glad to say this is it! The Tamrac Messenger 5 carries these items easily: 1) My camera (a beast, EOS7D) with its kit lens (28-135mm USM) and battery charger 2) Lens 1 (70-300mm IS), Lens 2 (10-22mm), Lens 3(50mm 1.8) 3) A canon speedlite (430 EX II) 4) Spare batteries for the speedlite and their charger 5) A Macbook Air 13" with charger All this - with still plenty of pouches to carry your small items.
